Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our team on a contract basis, starting around December 2026 / January 2027.

Elua Accounting LLP is a Calgary-based accounting firm, but this position is fully remote. Hours will be flexible and variable throughout most of the year, with the expectation of full-time availability during personal tax season.

We’re a small firm that values flexibility, independence, good communication, and providing great service to our clients. We’re looking for someone with strong Canadian public practice experience who can confidently take ownership of files and work independently, while still being part of a supportive team.

What We're Looking For

Our ideal candidate

- Has 3–5 years of personal and corporate tax preparation experience
- Has strong T1 preparation experience, including experience preparing returns for Alberta residents
- Has hands-on experience preparing T2 corporate tax returns
- Has experience preparing compilation engagements
- Has experience working with CaseWare and TaxPrep
- Is comfortable taking a file from start to finish with minimal oversight
- Has solid knowledge of Canadian accounting and tax
- Is organized, reliable, and detail-oriented
- Is comfortable communicating directly with clients
- Can independently manage their workload and deadlines

A CPA designation is an asset but is not required. Relevant public practice experience and the ability to prepare quality files independently are most important to us.

What You'll Be Doing

Depending on the time of year and your experience, your role may include:

- Preparing T1 personal tax returns
- Preparing T2 corporate tax returns
- Preparing compilation engagements, adjusting journal entries and financial statements
- Communicating with clients to gather information and resolve questions
- Assisting with other tax and accounting matters based on your experience

Hours & Contract Structure





This is a contractor position, with hours varying throughout the year.

We anticipate a start date around December 2026 or January 2027. Outside of personal tax season, hours will fluctuate depending on our workload and the time of year.

During personal tax season, we're looking for someone who is available for full-time hours and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment during our busiest time of year.

The remainder of the year will offer significantly more flexibility and reduced hours. We're ideally looking for someone interested in developing a long-term working relationship with our firm.

Elua Accounting LLP is a small, growing accounting firm based in Calgary, Alberta founded and led by two female CPAs. We aim to make accounting a little less intimidating and a lot more approachable for our clients.

As a small firm, you won't find layers of management or a highly corporate environment. We value people who can work independently, communicate well, and take ownership of their work, while still being comfortable reaching out when questions come up.

We care about doing great work for our clients, but we also value flexibility and work-life balance. Since this position is fully remote, we're looking for someone we can trust to manage their workload, communicate with the team, and meet deadlines without being micromanaged.
