Senior Technologist- Building Science

Our Building Science Division is growing, and we are seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Building Science Technologist to join our team in Mississauga. The successful candidate will contribute to a wide range of building science and building envelope projects, working as part of a collaborative team to investigate existing conditions, develop practical repair solutions, prepare technical deliverables, and support projects through construction.

This role is well suited to a building science professional who is comfortable balancing office-based technical work with field investigations, construction reviews, and regular interaction with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders. Duties and responsibilities for this position will include:

· Perform reserve fund studies, performance audits, building envelope and building condition investigations supported by visual reviews and both invasive and non-invasive testing.

· Prepare detailed technical reports, drawings, and specifications for remedial work.

· Undertake design of building envelope remediation projects, including cost estimates and contract administration.

· Conduct field reviews and inspections during construction to ensure quality and compliance.

· Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and project stakeholders to deliver practical and effective solutions.

· Assist with the preparation of engineering proposals, scopes of work, and fee estimates.

· Participate in client meetings and contribute to maintaining and developing client relationships.

· Work collaboratively with junior and senior engineers and technologists, providing technical support and guidance where appropriate.





The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications:

· Degree in Civil, Structural, Building Science, Architectural or a related engineering discipline; or a relevant engineering technology diploma or similar post-secondary education.

· Relevant professional certification or eligibility for certification is considered an asset.

· Approximately 7+ years of relevant experience in building science, building envelope consulting, restoration, or a related field.

· Robust understanding of building envelope systems, construction practices, and applicable codes (including the Ontario Building Code).

· Demonstrated ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and effectively, both in writing and in-person.

· Confidence and professionalism in client-facing environments.

· Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and sound technical judgement.

· Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

· Effective organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.

· Demonstrate willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.

· Proficiency using AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).

· A valid driver’s license and a reliable vehicle are a must.

Compensation & Benefits

· Competitive base salary, commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience, education, qualifications, and professional designation(s).

· Annual performance bonus.

· Group RRSP offered after 3 months of employment. The company will match the employees’ contributions up to 5%.

· Group Insurance coverage for medical, dental, life insurance, long and short-term disability. Eligibility upon completion of three (3) months of employment. Individual costs for each plan member are shared equally by the employee and the company.

Physical Requirements

Field work may include climbing ladders, performing inspections at higher elevations (including swing stages, with proper training) and exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to occasionally lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
