The Pharmacy Department at CHEO operates on a 24 hour basis, 7 days a week, every day of the year. Pharmacists need to be available to work any shifts including weekends, evenings and overnights.JOB DESCRIPTION:Responsible for the safe, accurate and efficient dispensing of medicationsSupervises all work performed by the pharmacy assistants and technicians which includes dispensing of medications, sterile and non sterile compounding, calculations, etcMaintains clinical expertise in at least one area of clinical pharmacy practice.Provides drug information to physicians, nurses and other members of the health care team, as well as to patientsMaintains work areas in a clean and orderly fashionRotates through dispensary, sterile and non sterile compounding and clinical staff pharmacists' duties.Shares evening, week-end and overnight coverageShares the responsibility of training and/or orienting of new personnel with respect to drug distribution and clinical service aspects of his/her designated areaPerforms the duties of a preceptor for pharmacy students, interns and residentsContributes and/or assists in the organization of departmental publications and presentationsMaintains knowledge of current hospital and pharmacy policies and ensures complianceAssists in the development, implementation and evaluation of pharmacy programs and servicesParticipates in departmental Quality Assurance programs, drug utilization reviews,



workload measurementsUndertakes special projects as assignedCompletes professional activities on a daily basisInitiates and/or completes medication incident reports as requiredParticipates on hospital or departmental committees as assignedAttends and participates in departmental and hospital meetings such as pharmacist meeting, Staff Meeting, Education seminarsMaintains professional conduct and standards in all aspects of his/her work and when interacting with hospital staff and the publicCover Kid Care Pharmacy as requiredPerforms other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy managerQUALIFICATIONS:Graduate of a Pharmacy degree from a recognized university (Essential)Licensed or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy by The Ontario College of Pharmacist (Essential)Minimum of two (2) years experience as a Hospital Pharmacist (Preferred)Completion of a hospital pharmacy residency program at a recognized Canadian teaching hospital and /or at least five (5) years experience in hospital (Preferred)Timeline may be extended or shortened based on operational needs CHEO values diversity and is an equal opportunity employer.
