When attending an event or meeting in person, your primary office location will be based out of City Hall, Burlington ON. Work location is subject to change at the discretion of the City due to operational demands. This position is part of the Communications and Engagement section of the Chief Administrative Officer’s Office and reports to the Manager,



Corporate Communications.ResponsibilitiesThe Specialist, Social Media and Digital will be responsible to:Manage the City’s reputation at all times while communicating through social mediaCapture photo and video content on location at events, highlighting City departments, and other initiativesCreate engaging video content for social media, including filming and basic editing.Develop, coordinate, and implement social media strategies and targeted social media postingsMonitor internal and external social media channels and engage in effective communication with the community, as requiredMeasure and report on the success of social media for the CityWork with Managers, Communications Advisors and other departments to develop social media messaging and creative assetsSupport corporate marketing and advertising campaigns,



promotional activities and eventsSupport emergencies by monitoring online conversations for sensitive or inaccurate informationServe as subject matter expert on digital and social media trends tools and platformsProvide training and guidance to internal stakeholders as needed and identify trends and emerging issues for digital and social media opportunitiesSupport digital media including web, video, photography, and basic designManage paid social media campaignsRequirementsYou will have a related post-secondary degree or diploma in an area such as Design, Journalism, or Communications, and 2-4 years of related experience municipal preferred. You will also have proficiency with social media tools and an advanced understanding of the needs/requirements of target audiences, and the impact and responsibility of information disseminated through social media. You will have a working knowledge of design, video and web editing tools/software. You will be a team player who engages others to build relationships and create the best communication products. You will be required to work some evenings and weekends and work may occur outside of regular work hours.
