Job Title: STEM Teacher (Maternity Leave Contract)

Job Type: Full-time, Fixed-Term Contract (Maternity Leave Cover)

Expected Start Date: November 1, 2026

Contract Duration: Approximately 10–12 months

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM (In-person)

Pay: From $40,000 per year

UMC High School is seeking a dynamic, qualified STEM Teacher to join our team for a maternity leave replacement contract starting around November 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will take over and lead integrated STEM courses, inspiring high school students through hands-on inquiry, practical problem-solving, and Ontario curriculum-aligned coursework. Both experienced educators and recent B.Ed. graduates with strong STEM capabilities are encouraged to apply.

Preference will be given to OCT-certified teachers or candidates with demonstrated experience designing and delivering Ontario high school STEM curricula.

Key Responsibilities

- Deliver dynamic, project-based STEM lessons that integrate science, technology, engineering, and mathematics concepts
- Plan, instruct, and assess course material in alignment with the Ontario Curriculum and Growing Success guidelines




- Maintain an organized, up-to-date Schoology course page with assignments and lesson resources
- Evaluate student work (Assessment for, as, and of Learning) with timely, actionable feedback
- Track and report student attendance and performance accurately via Maplewood SIS
- Prepare midterm and final report cards, and attend parent-teacher conferences
- Facilitate a safe, structured, and engaging in-person classroom environment

Qualifications & Requirements

- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Education (required); B.Ed. preferred
- Certification: Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) license in valuable standing is strongly preferred (relevant Master’s/Ph.D. will also be considered)
- Experience: Minimum 1 year of teaching experience at the intermediate/senior level; proven ability to design and teach hands-on STEM lessons
- Tech Skills: Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (Schoology), student databases (Maplewood), and standard productivity suites (MS Office/Google Workspace)
- Location & Availability: Must reside in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and be available to begin full-time around the start of November 2026
