Job Number: 56124Reporting to the Director of Neighbourhoods Planning and Design in the Building Great Neighbourhoods Branch, the Supervisor of Neighbourhoods Design is ready to manage the design aspects of infrastructure reconstruction and rehabilitation within the City of Edmonton’s mature neighbourhoods, as part of the Neighbourhood Renewal Program.The Neighbourhood Renewal Program is a building block of a great city, and the investment in reconstructing neighbourhoods enhances their livability and longevity. The mandate of the Program is to provide a fully integrated and holistic approach to planning, designing, and delivery of roads, drainage, street lighting, open spaces, and any other neighbourhood amenities.What will you do?Manage, review, approve, and align design deliverables with City policies, design and construction standards and best practices, safety requirements, and environmental policiesProvide technical support to design staff to enable them in making responsible, timely, and professional decisionsEnsure deliverables are appropriately coordinated with internal staff, external partners, and the publicDevelop and implement a workforce strategy aligned with maximizing value and efficiency of a core internal design groupManage plans, budgets, and resources to effectively utilize skills and resources to meet internal client and public expectationsProvide ongoing communication on the progress of projectsAlign the team’s resources to maximize skills and internal assets to support projects and meet client expectationsManage, mentor and coach staff to foster a high-performance environmentRespond to Councillor and Public inquiriesParticipate in partner management and public engagement activities,



including as a spokesperson on behalf of the City when requiredEmbrace and demonstrate the Cultural Commitments of Safe; Helpful; Accountable; Integrated; and ExcellentQualifications:Knowledge or training and/or education in Engineering, Business Administration, Project Management, Architecture, Landscape Architecture or a related disciplineProfessional Engineer (P.Eng.) in valuable standing and registered as practicing with APEGA. Applicants in a different Canadian jurisdiction eligible for Inter-Provincial Mobility (IPMA) with APEGA may be consideredLeadership experience in municipal design, construction, or a related field, and in a large, complex organizationCombinations of education and experience may be consideredAssets:Project Management Professional (PMP) or a related certificationMaster’s degree in a related field is considered an assetCredentials in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Active Transportation, or a related fieldSkills required for success:Ability to lead and motivate teams while building a healthy, respectful, and inclusive workplace environment that enables staff to reach their potential while strengthening organizational capacityStrategically agile leader able to anticipate business opportunities and influence enterprise-wide policy planning and initiativesAble to build new and foster existing partnerships with community organizations, business partners, external agencies, orders of government, and internal branchesFoster an environment that results in an efficient, effective,
