The Swim Space
Bedford
You don't need to be a Swim Instructor yet.
That's what we're here to teach you.
The Swim Space is looking for reliable, energetic people who enjoy being around kids and want to learn how to become Swim Instructors.
Maybe you've played competitive sports.
Maybe you've been coached for years and know what a great coach feels like.
Maybe you've coached younger athletes, worked at a summer camp, babysat, volunteered with kids or helped with a younger team.
If you're comfortable in the water, enjoy working with kids and are willing to learn, we'd like to meet you.
Learn 2 B a Swim Instructor
Our training program gives you the skills and experience to become a Swim Instructor at The Swim Space.
You'll learn how to
- Teach swimming skills to children
- Lead a small group with confidence
- Communicate clearly and positively
- Keep swimmers safe and engaged
- Help nervous swimmers become more comfortable in the water
- Give encouragement, feedback and direction
- Become a stronger coach and teammate
Training is paid at Nova Scotia minimum wage. Candidates who successfully complete the program can move into a Swim Instructor role at a higher hourly rate.
What we're really looking for
Previous swim instruction experience is not required.
We're looking for people who:
- Genuinely enjoy working with kids
- Have participated in sports, coaching or organized activities
- Understand what it means to be part of a team
- Are comfortable learning and receiving feedback
- Bring positive energy to work
- Can communicate with children and adults
- Are dependable and show up when they are scheduled
Reliability matters to us. Our swimmers come every week expecting to see their instructor. Their families count on us,
and our team counts on each other.
You don't need to know everything when you start.
You do need to show up, be ready to learn and care about doing a good job.
