Job Summary

Join the Vancouver Island Child and Youth Mental Health (CYMH) Services team—a collaborative, multidisciplinary group committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of children, youth, and families across the region. We take a person-centered, evidence-based approach to mental health care, offering early intervention and long-term treatment tailored to the needs of each community.
Our teams work closely with schools, healthcare providers, and community organizations to support young people navigating mental health challenges. We foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive environment—both for the families we serve and the professionals we work with.
Role
As a CYMH Clinician on our team, you’ll provide direct clinical services including intake services, assessment, treatment, suicide risk assessment, safety planning, and crisis intervention for ages 0-18. You will work closely with team members, community agencies, schools, hospitals, and other ministry programs to provide comprehensive care, including individual, group and family therapy for children, youth, and families.

Preference may be given to applicants with the following:

Two (2) years or more experience working with children and youth and their families, with responsibility for providing a wide range of community based mental health services.
Applicants who self-identify as Indigenous (First Nations, Métis or Inuit) with the required combination of education and experience.

Additional Requirements:

You must possess and maintain a valid B.C. Class 5 driver’s license (note - if you currently have a valid driver’s license in Canada, and if you are the successful applicant, you must acquire a valid B.C. Class 5 driver's license immediately).

About this Position:
There are currently two (2) positions available:

One (1) full time permanent position located in Nanaimo
One (1) full-time permanent position located in Parksville

Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement.
