2 EXISTING VACANCIES 15 HOURS/ WEEK AND 22.5 HRS/ WEEK The Therapist works as part of the multi-disciplinary team and will provide therapeutic counselling utilizing a variety of evidence-based approaches. Therapy is recovery focused and time limited, promoting independence through sessions that are solution-focused and strengths-based.

The Therapist provides intake functions which include receiving and coordinating referrals and requests for service and/or consultations. The Therapist conducts comprehensive assessments through the completion of coordinated access forms to determine eligibility for services according to defined criteria and may make alternative referrals to community service providers. The Therapist also collects data for statistical and reporting purposes.

The therapist will split their time between intake functions via AccessMHA.ca and regular client caseloads.

Responsibilities and Duties:

- Work effectively with clients who present with multiple and complex issues with addictions and mental health.
- Completes initial screening of the individual.
- Administers and interprets standardized assessments for various Agency programs, including providing appropriate assessments and treatment interventions to individuals with lived and living experience of substance use.
- Identifies the services that are required and directs the referral to the appropriate program or makes recommendations regarding alternative service providers ensuring that the client is referred to the most appropriate service
- Provide individualized and/or therapeutic counselling, as well as group counselling.
- Assist clients to define and understand their problems and learn the skills to act on them.
- Liaises with referring sources to ensure coordinated access to appropriate services.
- Empower, challenge and guide clients through thoughts, feelings, choices and actions which will enhance their personal growth.

- Maintain accurate and current confidential client files and progress reports
- Participate in case conferences, team and staff meetings

Qualifications:

- A minimum of a Master of Counselling or Master of Social Work from a recognized postsecondary institution.
- Current full or qualifying registration in valuable standing with the appropriate college and regulatory body.
- Experience working in community mental health and addictions is an asset
- Experience assessing and providing services and clinical counselling to adults with co-occurring complex needs is an asset.
- In-depth knowledge of mental illness from a psychosocial perspective.
- Excellent clinical skills in the areas of assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation.
- Knowledge of evidence-based counselling and trauma-informed strategies and techniques.
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act and other relevant legislation.
- Completion of specialized training/course(s) in supporting individuals who are substance using/dependent preferred.
- Excellent communication, consultation, interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are necessary.
- Demonstrated ability to collect, maintain, and analyze data
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of community mental health service needs of clients and the availability of other community based mental health programs, agencies and resources.
- A clear understanding of and ability to demonstrate professional ethics, boundaries, and judgement.
- Current First Aid and CPR Certification.
- Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check.
- A valid Ontario Driver's License, insurance and access to a vehicle with a minimum $2,000,000 vehicle liability insurance.

Pay: $40.40-$43.22 per hour
