Job Overview

We are looking for an experienced Tool & Die Designer to join our growing engineering team.

Egar Tool & Die specializes in the design and manufacture of complex progressive and transfer stamping dies for the automotive industry. This is an opportunity to work on challenging tooling projects from concept through final design and build.

As a Tool & Die Designer, you will be responsible for creating detailed tooling designs for automotive stamping dies using CAD software. Working closely with engineering, manufacturing, and tool build teams, you will develop high-precision tooling solutions that meet customer requirements and support efficient, high-volume production.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented designer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges and contributing to innovative tooling projects in a rapid-paced environment.

The Ideal Candidate

We're looking for someone who doesn't just know how to Design a die — we want someone who understands why the die is designed the way it is.

If you are a designer who can look at a stamping process, recognize potential problems before the die hits the press,



and develop a practical solution that can be built and run, we'd like to hear from you.

Duties

- Design complex progressive and transfer stamping dies
- Design forming, drawing, piercing, trimming and restrike operations
- Review customer Standards and apply them to the die design and Process
- Apply GD&T; and manufacturing principles to the die design and Process

Qualifications

- Proven experience in tool and die design within the automotive or manufacturing industry.
- Experience as a tool and die maker in a stamping die environment
- Proficiency in CAD software including AutoCAD, SolidWorks, VISI,
- Strong mechanical knowledge with a solid understanding of mechanical engineering principles related to system design and assembly.
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate them into precise design solutions.
- Strong understanding of progressive and/or transfer tooling
- Ability to read and understand GD&T; Part Prints
- Strong 3D CAD skills
- Understanding of manufacturing and machining processes DFM
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Understanding advanced high-strength steels such as DP780 / 980 and other AHSS materials an asset.
