Description The MIS Analyst is responsible for the accurate, timely preparation and submission of Management Information System (MIS) financial and statistical reporting, including SRI and Trial Balance (TB) submissions to external stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Health). The role focuses on data integrity, reconciliation, variance analysis, and ongoing data quality improvements across financial and operational systems. This position plays a critical role in ensuring compliance with MIS standards and reporting guidelines, while supporting internal stakeholders through actionable insights and improved data reliability.
Key Responsibilities – SRI & External Reporting
Lead preparation and submission of SRI reporting, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and adherence to Ministry guidelines
Coordinate quarterly/annual Trial Balance (TB) submissions, including mapping and validation
Ensure compliance with Ontario MIS Guidelines
Act as a key contact for auditor and Ministry-related queries related to MIS submissions
Key Responsibilities – Data Integrity & Reconciliation
Perform detailed reconciliations between the general ledger and MIS outputs
Investigate and resolve data discrepancies across financial and statistical systems
Ensure alignment between financial results and workload/statistical data
Maintain and monitor chart of accounts mappings to MIS standards
Key Responsibilities – Data Quality & Cleanup
Identify and lead data cleanup initiatives to improve MIS accuracy and consistency
Standardize processes and controls to reduce recurring errors in reporting
Work with Finance, Decision Support, and operational leaders to correct data at source




Develop tools or reports to proactively flag data quality issues
Key Responsibilities – Analysis & Insights
Provide variance analysis and explanations related to MIS submissions
Translate data into explicit, actionable insights for Finance leadership
Support internal reporting needs linked to MIS outputs (e.g., benchmarking, trends)
Key Responsibilities – Stakeholder Collaboration
Collaborate with Finance (FR, FP&A;), Decision Support/IT, and operational leaders
Provide guidance on MIS reporting requirements and implications e.g. new Accounting Unit and GL Account Creation
Support financial literacy by helping stakeholders understand data linkages
Qualifications – Education & Experience
Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Health Information, or related field required
3–5+ years of experience in MIS reporting or healthcare finance preferred
Strong understanding of Trial Balance and general ledger structures
Knowledge of Ontario MIS reporting standards preferred
Technical Skills
Advanced Excel skills (reconciliation, large datasets, data validation)
Experience with financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Meditech, etc.)
Ability to work with large, complex datasets
Core Competencies
Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
Analytical thinking with ability to investigate discrepancies
Clear communication skills tailored to finance and non-finance audiences
Ability to manage multiple deadlines
