Role Description The Utilities Operator is a full-time, on-site role located in the Greater Calgary Metropolitan Area. This position is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining municipal utility systems, including water distribution, wastewater treatment facilities, and related infrastructure.

Day-to-day tasks include performing inspections, recording operational data, conducting routine testing, and ensuring systems operate safely and efficiently in accordance with regulations and standards.

The Utilities

Operator also troubleshoots operational issues, performs minor repairs, coordinates with contractors or other departments when required, and supports preventative maintenance activities. The role requires adherence to safety protocols, participation in shift or on-call rotations as needed, and clear communication with supervisors and team members.





Qualifications

- Candidates should possess skills in wastewater treatment operations, including monitoring, sampling, and compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Candidates should possess skills in operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in utility and infrastructure work.
- Candidates should possess troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and process-related issues in utility systems.
- Candidates should possess utilities-related knowledge, including water distribution, wastewater collection, and basic system controls.
- Candidates should possess experience with steam systems or related industrial processes, including secure operation and monitoring.
- Relevant technical certification or diploma in water/wastewater treatment, utilities operations, or a related field is preferred.
- Ability to follow safety procedures, read and interpret technical documentation, and maintain accurate records is required.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and time-management skills, with the ability to work independently in outdoor and industrial environments.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to meet any physical requirements of the role, such as lifting, standing, and working in varied weather conditions.
