About Us

My Family Pet Clinic is a locally owned veterinary clinic in North Calgary, serving Harvest Hills and surrounding communities. We provide veterinary care for cats and dogs, with a focus on explicit communication, practical care, and building strong relationships with our clients.

We are a small clinic with one doctor and a growing team, where every team member plays an important role in the day-to-day operations, client experience, and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Reception & Client Service

- Greet clients and patients in a friendly and professional manner
- Answer incoming phone calls, emails, and client inquiries
- Schedule and confirm appointments
- Collect accurate client and patient information
- Communicate appointment instructions and general clinic information clearly
- Process payments and assist with invoices at checkout
- Assist with prescription and food pickup coordination
- Maintain organized and accurate client records
- Respond to client concerns respectfully and direct medical questions to the appropriate veterinary team member
- Help provide a positive and welcoming experience from the client's first contact with the clinic through checkout

Veterinary & Clinical Support

- Assist veterinarians and RVTs with patient handling and restraint
- Prepare examination rooms and treatment areas for appointments
- Assist with cleaning and preparing medical and surgical equipment
- Support patient preparation and recovery as directed by the veterinary team
- Help maintain clean kennels, treatment areas, exam rooms, and common clinical spaces
- Prepare supplies and equipment for procedures
- Assist with stocking and organizing medications, medical supplies, food, and clinic inventory
- Help ensure patients remain comfortable and calm while in the clinic
- Follow clinic cleaning, disinfection, biosecurity, and infection-control protocols




- Complete additional patient-care duties appropriate to the VTA role and level of training

Qualifications

- Completion of a Veterinary Technical Assistant, Veterinary Medical Assistant, Animal Health Assistant, or related veterinary support program is required
- Previous veterinary, animal-care, medical reception, or customer-service experience is an asset
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Genuine interest in animal health and wellbeing
- Comfortable working directly with dogs and cats
- A people-oriented mindset with a strong focus on client experience
- Respectful, professional, and team-oriented attitude
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable using computers, scheduling software, and learning new systems
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a busy clinical environment
- Ability to work independently while also contributing to a small team
- Willingness to learn, ask questions, and continuously improve

This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys variety in their work and wants to be involved in both client service and hands-on veterinary support. Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20.0 per week
