We are seeking a Payroll Technician to join a growing Accounting and Payroll team in Dorval, QC.This role will support the full payroll cycle for both Canadian and U.S. employees, while also providing exposure to international and cross-border payroll activities. In addition to payroll processing, the position will contribute to payroll accounting, reconciliations, month-end close, audits, reporting, and year-end activities.This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who wants to expand beyond traditional payroll processing and develop broader experience across payroll, accounting, HR, and international operations.Key ResponsibilitiesPayroll ProcessingSupport the full payroll cycle for Canadian and U.S. employeesProcess semi-monthly payroll accurately and within established deadlinesReview and validate payroll inputs and supporting documentationProcess earnings, deductions, bonuses, reimbursements, and taxable benefitsManage direct deposits and payroll adjustmentsProcess benefit deductions and compensation changesProcess garnishments and other payroll-related deductionsValidate payroll changes prior to processing deadlinesReview payroll for accuracy and completenessEmployee & HR SupportCoordinate with HR regarding new hires, terminations, compensation changes, benefits, and other employee updatesResolve timekeeping and payroll discrepanciesRespond to employee payroll questions in a skilled and timely mannerMaintain accurate and confidential employee payroll recordsWork closely with HR, Accounting, payroll providers,
and external partnersEscalate and resolve payroll issues appropriatelyInternational & Cross-Border PayrollThe role provides exposure to international payroll and cross-border activities, including:International payroll processingCross-border payrollShadow payrollHypo-tax adjustmentsYear-end international payroll adjustmentsCoordination with international payroll providersPayroll Accounting & ReconciliationThis position is not purely data-entry focused and will also support a variety of accounting activities, including:Prepare and post payroll journal entriesSupport bonus accrualsPerform payroll reconciliationsAssist with balance sheet reconciliationsSupport month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closeReview and process HR, payroll, and benefit invoicesAssist with invoice coding and payment requestsSupport internal and external payroll auditsPerform payroll variance reviewsAssist with payroll-related reportingYear-End & ComplianceAssist with year-end payroll activitiesSupport preparation and review of tax formsMaintain payroll procedures, checklists, and documentationSupport payroll audits and information requestsEnsure payroll records and supporting documentation remain accurate and up to dateRequired2–3 years of payroll experienceExperience processing or supporting Canadian payrollStrong experience entering, reviewing, and validating payroll dataAdvanced written and spoken EnglishStrong Excel skills and Microsoft Office proficiencyExperience working with payroll softwareExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to meet strict payroll deadlinesExperience handling confidential employee informationStrong problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and manage multiple priorities
