Job Description:

Our client is a successful, family-owned distribution business with a long-standing reputation for customer service, operational excellence, and strong relationships with customers and suppliers. As the company continues to evolve and grow, they are seeking a hands-on and commercially minded Director, Finance & Administration to oversee finance and key administrative functions across the organization. Reporting directly to the President, this is a unique opportunity to join a well-established business in a senior leadership role where you will have broad influence across Finance, Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse Operations, IT, and Administration.

Key Responsibilities

Finance & Treasury

- Lead daily cash management and rolling cash flow forecasting.
- Manage banking relationships, lending facilities, covenant reporting, and lender communications.
- Drive working capital performance through effective management of inventory, accounts receivable, and accounts payable.
- Prepare financial analysis and business cases supporting capital expenditures and operational investments.
- Monitor financial performance and provide recommendations to improve profitability and efficiency.

Accounting & Reporting
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.
- Deliver accurate and timely financial statements and management reporting packages.
- Provide actionable analysis on profitability, product margins, customer performance, inventory aging, and logistics costs.

Controls, Risk & Compliance
- Develop and strengthen internal controls and financial processes.
- Ensure compliance with lending agreements, tax regulations, insurance requirements, and corporate policies.
- Oversee annual insurance renewals and risk management initiatives.




- Coordinate tax filings and compliance activities with external advisors.

Operational Leadership
- Lead and develop teams across Accounting, Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse Operations, and IT.
- Improve cross-functional processes including order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory management, and customer service workflows.
- Oversee inventory planning, supplier performance, product availability, and working capital objectives.
- Provide leadership for payroll, benefits administration, recruiting, onboarding, information technology, and facilities management.

Business Partnership
- Partner closely with the President to support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario planning activities.
- Deliver meaningful operational and financial insights that support business decisions.
- Act as a trusted advisor on the financial and operational health of the organization.
- Identify risks, opportunities, and process improvements while providing practical recommendations for action.

Requirements:

Qualifications

- CPA designation preferred.
- 8+ years of progressive finance and accounting leadership experience, ideally within a Controller, Director of Finance, or similar role.
- Experience within an SMB in the distribution, wholesale, logistics, manufacturing, or other inventory-intensive industries.
- Robust understanding of working capital management, inventory control, cash flow forecasting, and lending facilities.
- Proven experience leading teams across multiple functional areas.
- Experience overseeing or partnering with Customer Service, Purchasing, Warehouse Operations, IT, or other support functions.
- Demonstrated success implementing or optimizing ERP and business systems.
- Hands-on leadership style with the ability to balance strategic thinking and day-to-day execution.
