**Welder**
**Job Description**
This role involves performing high-quality MIG welding in a dedicated welding station, working primarily with structural steel sheets and tubes.

You read and interpret welding diagrams and blueprints, fit and weld components to precise specifications, and use grinding and forming equipment to finish metal parts.

You ensure all welds meet diagram requirements through careful inspection and measurement, while supporting the broader production team with additional tasks as needed.
**Responsibilities**
Work in a designated welding station to complete assigned welding tasks safely and efficiently.

Read and interpret welding diagrams and blueprints to understand project requirements and weld specifications.

Fit and weld structural steel sheets, tubes, and related components to create finished assemblies.

Perform MIG (GMAW) welding, including long welds extending several feet with widths of 10 mm or more.

Grind down welds and operate various machines and tools to form, finish, and prepare metal parts.

Inspect welds and verify that finished products meet all weld diagram and blueprint specifications.

Accurately take measurements, convert units of measurement, and ensure dimensional accuracy of workpieces.

Work comfortably and safely in confined spaces, including cylinders with diameters of approximately 4–5 feet.

Use solid wire and appropriate welding consumables and techniques to achieve consistent, high-quality welds.

Collaborate with colleagues in the welding shop, offering and receiving assistance as needed to meet production goals.

Perform additional duties as assigned to support production, maintenance, and overall shop operations.
**Essential Skills**
Minimum of 3+ years of MIG welding experience, including vertical and horizontal welds.

Strong ability to read and interpret welding diagrams and blueprints accurately.

Proficiency in MIG (GMAW) welding on structural steel components using solid wire.

Demonstrated ability to accurately take measurements and convert between units of measurement.

Comfort working in confined spaces such as 4–5 ft diameter cylinders while maintaining safety and quality standards.

Experience with blueprint reading and weld diagram interpretation in a production or fabrication environment.

Knowledge of structural welding practices and standards for steel sheets, tubes, and related materials.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience with fitting and assembly of structural components prior to welding.

Background in operating metalworking machines and shop equipment related to welding and fabrication.
TIG welding experience as a supplementary skill.

Experience with tack welding and preparing joints for final welds.

Skill in grinding and finishing welds to required quality and appearance.

Familiarity with flux core welding processes.

Understanding of general fabrication shop practices and structural work.

Shifts operate Monday to Friday with options including day shift (6:00 am – 2:00 pm), afternoon shift (2:00 pm – 10:00 pm), and night shift (10:00 pm – 6:00 am).

Overtime is available after 40 hours at an enhanced rate, with double-time on Sundays, and all overtime remains optional to support work-life balance.
**Job Type & Location**
This is a Contract position based out of Cambridge, ON.
**Pay and Advantages**
The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $28.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
