Job Description

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of the Vancouver Island Health Authority(Island Health), patient & staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone at VIHA; as such, the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reports to the Nurse Manager, Department Head, or designate. Works both independently and interdependently as a member of the multidisciplinary team with other care providers. Functions as an experienced self-directed Vascular Access Nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients requiring intravenous access.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education, Training And Experience

Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant. Two (2) years recent, related experience including completion of a PICC insertion course, or an equivalent combination of education,



training and experience with IVs, PICCs and SVADs. Venipuncture skills required. Use of own vehicle may be required for travel associated with the program. Basic Life Support, Level C.
