**Equipment Operator**
**Job Description**
This role involves operating heavy equipment at a large arena construction project, supporting underground trenching and utility installation activities.

You will work outdoors on a busy civil construction site, performing earthworks, trench digging, backfilling, and finish grading while collaborating closely with other operators and laborers.
**Responsibilities**
Operate heavy equipment such as skid steers, mini excavators, and trenching equipment to support underground utility installation and earthworks.

Perform trench digging, backfilling, and finish grading in accordance with project specifications and site safety standards.

Assist with underground trenching activities at a major arena construction site, working in coordination with mechanical trades and excavation crews.

Work in tandem with an excavator operator and other laborers to complete tasks safely, efficiently, and on schedule.

Maintain awareness of site conditions and follow all safety protocols, including those related to ground disturbance and civil construction activities.

Use hand tools, including shovels, to support detailed excavation and grading work as needed.

Travel reliably to and from the construction site using personal transportation.

Adhere to assigned shift schedules, including extended hours and weekend work when required.

Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth coordination of daily tasks.

Keep equipment and work areas clean, organized, and in good working order to minimize downtime and safety risks.
**Essential Skills**
Proven experience operating a skid steer in a civil construction environment.

Experience operating a mini excavator or similar heavy equipment.

Hands-on experience with trenching equipment and underground trenching activities.

Experience in civil construction, including earthworks, trench digging, trench backfilling, and finish grading.

Comfort working outdoors on large, active construction sites.

Reliable transportation and ability to travel to the job site.

Valid CSTS 2020 certification.

Ground Disturbance certification.

Ability to work 12-hour shifts and extended hours during busy periods.
**Additional Skills & Qualifications**
Experience working on large-scale construction projects with multiple trades on site.

Familiarity with underground utility installation processes.

Ability to work effectively as part of a team alongside excavator operators and laborers.

Strong awareness of safety practices related to excavation and ground disturbance.

Capacity to adapt to changing site conditions and task priorities.
**Work Environment**
The role is based at a large outdoor construction site focused on an arena project, specifically at a location supporting underground trenching and utility installation.





You will work alongside professional excavation and mechanical trades on a site with more than 600 workers, creating a dynamic and fast-paced environment.

The standard shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with overtime applicable after 44 hours per week and additional weekend work currently available.

Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and involves operating heavy equipment and using hand tools on uneven terrain.

The environment is safety-focused, with strict adherence to construction and ground disturbance protocols, and requires practical, site-appropriate work attire suitable for outdoor construction activities.

**Pay and Benefits**
The pay range for this position is $36.00 - $38.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
