This position is Monday to Friday from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. with breaks as per program calendars.

Responsible for assessing new learners for placement in the Adult Non-Credit Get SET: Skills Education and Training, and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs in accordance with Ministry and Board program expectations and standards, and in compliance with Board policies and procedures; responsible for the recommendation, purchase, cataloguing and distribution of instructor resources for the ESL, LINC and Get SET: Skills Education and Training programs; responsible for Portfolio Based Language Assessment (PBLA) training and support for instructors in the ESL and LINC programs; advise and support program management as required.

Major Responsibilities To assess Get SET: Skills Education and Training learners for entry into the program as per OALCF (Ontario Adult Literacy Curriculum Framework) guidelines To assess visitor learners for placement in ESL classes following the CLB (Canadian Language Benchmarks) Placement Test To create and maintain accurate assessment records as per Ministry and Board requirements To communicate with various Board approved publishers to keep abreast of new resources, and negotiate terms and prices To recommend, purchase, catalogue, shelve resources for the ESL, LINC, Get SET: Skills Education and Training programs To recommend resources in order to support ESL, LINC, Get SET: Skills Education and Training instructors To train and support ESL and LINC instructors on CLB & PBLA guidelines & procedures To support and advise management as needed regarding instructor support, training, PD sessions, resources, program policies, procedures To communicate with office admin and instructors as necessary in a timely manner (i.e. learner placement, resource purchases, etc.).

To work as an active member of the program team to ensure the safety and success of all clients.





To check Board email account daily.

To perform other duties as assigned

Experience And Qualifications

Excellent English grammar skills are required A university degree is required. Current OCELT (TESL Ontario) Accreditation in good standing is required.

Minimum three years in teaching or related experience is required.

Knowledge and understanding of adult education and language learning/teaching practices and trends.

Experience with curriculum development and working with adult learners.

Demonstrated excellence in computer and technological applications, platforms and software including Microsoft Office Suite, Google Applications and current Board approved/implemented software is required.

Demonstrated interpersonal and team building skills.

Successful facilitation and presentation experience with robust leadership skills.

Proficient English verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Information - Community And International Education Services (CIES) The Community and International Education Services (CIES) hiring protocol allows teachers to teach and/or administrate for two CIES sessions per school year and/or administrate one term/session at a time. Candidates will only be allowed to teach and/or administrate a third session on an emergency basis in consideration of demand in a particular subject area, course or administrative position.

A session is defined as the time needed to deliver a 4-6 week program (approximately 110 hours for credit courses) or the equivalent. CIES sessions include positions at e-Learning, Night School, Summer School, International Languages Secondary Credit and Elementary Non-Credit Programs and Summer Institute.
