SMITHERS SECONDARY SCHOOL / BULKLEY VALLEY EDUCATION CONNECTION .50 FTE TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT (Semester One) GRADE 8-12 HUMANITIES COURSES / ELECTIVES AND OTHER ONLINE COURSES AS REQUIRED*

EFFECTIVE: to January 31, 2027

THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE WILL

Have University qualifications and successful teaching experience in teaching the above listed subject areas at a secondary level. Have experience in delivering courses through a course management system such as Moodle and Office 365 Have experience and qualifications in the design, creation and delivery of Online Learning Courses Have experience in developing personalized learning plans with parents Have a solid understanding of the principles of Distributed Learning Education Have demonstrated success with students with behavioral and motivational challenges Have a commitment to the directions of the school as outlined in the School Growth Plan Embed the First Nations Principles of Learning in all subject areas Be committed to and practice the philosophy of inclusion Foster a student-centered environment in the classroom Have good interpersonal skills and a history of successful classroom management Have knowledge and commitment to using current assessment strategies, including formative assessment Be committed to consultation, parent conferences, and positive home/school/community liaison Be committed to working as a cooperative member of a school wide instructional team and attend meetings as required. Applicants should be aware that attendance at staff meetings, professional development activities and school-based team meetings is considered an integral element of assignments.

The starting annual salary for full-time teaching position ranges from $66,538 to $116,870, with placement on the range based on length of services and qualification in accordance with the collective agreement. Additionally, $3,500 annually as a Remote & Rural Allowance (Effective July 1, 2026) .
