This position has an initial appointment from January 1, 2027 to April 30, 2027.
Location - This role is in-person at Grande Prairie.
The Faculty of Education invites applications for part time Academic Teaching Staff to teach the following course in the Winter 2027 term. This course is taught in-person and is part of the Teacher Education North program, located in Grande Prairie, Alberta.
Responsibilities
EDPS 410 - Ethics and Law in Teaching
This course will examine the ethical and legal responsibilities of teachers. Among the topics addressed will be the following: punishment and child abuse; freedom of speech and academic freedom in schools; parents' rights and teachers' professional autonomy; issues of quality such as inclusive education and the problems of racism and sexism; fairness in assessment and evaluation; teachers' private lives and public obligations; indoctrination and the teaching of value.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- The successful applicant will hold a Master's Degree (minimum, PhD preferred) in education or a related field, with at least one graduate course in the specific subject area,
or related experience such as leadership experience in the subject area at the K-9 level in a school district.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with:
- A strong K-12 classroom teaching background and demonstrated teaching excellence.
- Experience teaching undergraduate education courses, including serving as a teaching assistant.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- Familiarity and facility with online teaching platforms such as Moodle, Canvas, D2L, etc.
