Position Description:
We have an exciting opportunity for an Accounts Payable Paymaster to join our Procure to Pay (P2P) team in Montreal.
This is a hands-on operational role focused on the final and critical stage of the Accounts Payable process: ensuring vendor payments are executed accurately and on time.
You will support day-to-day payment activities, with a particular focus on the preparation, printing and distribution of cheques, while collaborating with colleagues across our P2P organization.
This opportunity is well suited to someone early in their Accounts Payable career who has a basic understanding of payment processes, strong attention to detail and an interest in developing their skills within a large organization. Training and support will be provided by experienced team members and subject matter experts.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
- Execute day-to-day vendor payment activities through the ERP system and established payment processes.
- Prepare, print and distribute cheques according to established schedules and procedures.
- Review payment information and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness before processing.
- Perform required payment validations and follow established approval procedures.
- Assist with payment exceptions, rejected payments and other transactional issues.
- Support the investigation and resolution of vendor payment discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate payment records and supporting documentation for reconciliation and audit purposes.
- Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Finance and other internal stakeholders to resolve payment-related issues.
- Follow established internal controls and Procure to Pay procedures.
- Support other payment and reconciliation activities as required.
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
- Basic knowledge of Accounts Payable and payment processing.
- Understanding of how vendor payments operate within an Accounts Payable environment.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial transactions.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and address payment-related issues.
- Good organizational and time-management skills with the ability to meet payment deadlines.
- Ability to learn new ERP and payment processes.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a geographically distributed team.
- Robust verbal and written English communication skills to collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Functional French communication skills to support interactions with French-speaking stakeholders in Quebec.
- Ability and willingness to work from the Montreal office in accordance with CGI's applicable workplace requirements.
Assets
- Previous Accounts Payable or payment-processing experience.
- Experience with ERP or accounting systems, including Oracle.
- Experience preparing or processing cheques, electronic payments or other vendor payments.
- Experience working in a corporate, shared-services or high-volume transaction environment.
- Microsoft Excel experience.
- Experience working with geographically distributed or cross-cultural teams.

CGI is providing a reasonable estimate of the pay range for this role. The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $50,000–$100,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
