Willsëns Architectural Millwork is looking for an Advanced Cabinet Maker to join our team in Aurora, Ontario.

We specialize in custom commercial architectural millwork, and we are looking for someone who is confident working on unique, detailed and often one-of-a-kind projects. This is not a production cabinet-making position. Our work varies from project to project and requires someone who can read drawings, problem-solve, fabricate custom pieces and complete high-quality work both in our shop and on site.

Our projects can include custom reception desks, feature walls, wall units, built-ins, cabinetry, panels, counters, architectural details and other complex custom millwork. If you enjoy building things that aren't always standard or straightforward, this may be a great fit.

Schedule (Day Shifts)

Monday–Thursday: 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Friday: 7:00 AM – 12:30 PM

Location: Aurora, ON

Overtime may occasionally be required depending on project schedules.

Responsibilities The successful candidate will be responsible for duties including, but not limited to:

- Fabricate and assemble high-end custom commercial millwork and cabinetry
- Build custom pieces including reception desks, wall units, feature walls, built-ins, panels, counters and other architectural millwork
- Complete projects from fabrication through assembly and preparation for installation
- Read, interpret and work independently from architectural drawings, shop drawings, blueprints and specifications (metric)
- Accurately measure, lay out, cut, machine, assemble and finish custom components
- Operate woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools safely and efficiently
- Work with a variety of materials including hardwood, plywood, MDF, veneer, laminate and other architectural finishes




- Troubleshoot and problem-solve custom fabrication details as they arise
- Verify dimensions and ensure finished products meet drawings, specifications and quality standards
- Inspect materials for defects, damage, warping, cracking or other quality concerns
- Sand and prepare products for finishing
- Assist with packaging and preparing completed millwork for delivery
- Attend commercial job sites as required to assist with installation, modifications, fitting and field-related work
- Work collaboratively with project managers, shop management, finishers and installers
- Maintain a clean, organized and safe workstation
- Follow company health and safety procedures at all times
- Complete other shop or site-related duties as required

Qualifications & Experience

Previous professional cabinet-making and custom millwork experience is required for this position.

The ideal candidate will have:

- Strong experience in commercial architectural millwork and custom cabinetry
- Demonstrated ability to build custom, non-standard and one-off millwork pieces
- Experience working on commercial construction/job sites
- Strong ability to read and interpret architectural and shop drawings
- Excellent woodworking, fabrication and assembly skills
- Strong understanding of millwork construction methods and materials
- Ability to work independently and determine the best approach to complex custom builds




- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finished work
- Robust measuring and mathematical skills
- Ability to use woodworking machinery, hand tools and power tools confidently
- Ability to identify and resolve fabrication or installation issues
- Ability to work efficiently under project deadlines
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Reliable attendance and transportation
- Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs
- Ability to stand and work physically for extended periods
- Comfort working in a woodworking environment with noise, machinery and sawdust
- CSA-approved steel-toe safety footwear
- Own basic cabinet-making/installation tools
- Valid driver's licence is an asset

Who We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced craftsperson, not an entry-level candidate. You should be comfortable being handed a set of drawings and taking ownership of your work.

Because our projects are custom, we need someone who can think beyond standard boxes and cabinets. One project may involve a large reception desk, while the next could involve a custom feature wall, built-in unit or an unusual architectural element that requires creativity and problem-solving.

You should take pride in your workmanship, notice the small details, communicate well with the team and be comfortable working both in the shop and on active commercial job sites.
