Position: Aquafit Instructor Vacancies: More than 1 position will be filled Job Type: Casual Department: Aquatics Reports to: Manager, Aquatics Pay Type: Hourly Starting Rate: $45.69 General Accountability: The purpose of this position is to instruct specialized aquatic fitness programs (e.g. aquafit, aquazumba, aqua therapy, aqua spinning, etc.) In line with the strategic town plan and workplace culture, Accountable, Connected and Excellence (ACE), this position will always be required to do the right thing and take personal ownership in contributing to the organization. The employee in this position must be able to communicate clearly and actively contribute to achieving team results. The incumbent must provide exceptional service to customers and internal partners and demonstrate initiative toward achieving organizational results and performance excellence.

Specific Duties: Performs duties of an instructor in a qualified manner

Understands and applies facility and emergency policies and procedures

Enforce pool rules and Alberta Health Regulations with patrons using the pool

Administers first aid treatment and emergency response procedures as required Assists the manager with public education, outreach strategies and promotion of aquatic programs and services as required

Attends in-service training (held approximately each quarter)

Actively participate in the Health & Safety Program by understanding and following safety policies, reporting hazards, using PPE, and contributing to a respectful and safe workplace.

Other related duties as assigned Qualifications:



Fitness Alberta Aquatic Exercise Certification preferred (AFLCA)

WaterART, CALA aquatic fitness certification or other personal trainer/fitness professional licensing with documented specialization in water exercise may be considered

Intermediate First Aid

Basic working proficiency MS Office suite of programs, use of software for staff scheduling, registration, membership management Ability to complete various mandatory training including Health & Safety, WHMIS, Respectful Workplace Ability to work well in a team environment

Ability to make sound decisions using good judgment Ability to deal with the public in a positive, courteous manner

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including an orientation toward positive customer service

Ability to lift 50lbs comfortably and safely

Physically fit enough to perform a variety of physical duties, including instructing, lifting and moving equipment Working Conditions: Ability to work extremely flexible hours (evenings, weekends, and holidays), shift work and split shifts as business requires

Ability to spend significant amounts of time standing and/or in the water

Comfortable working in a warm, humid and loud environment

Exposure to a diverse group of patrons Exposure to physical injury working near children and patrons in the water

Frequent exposure to gases, pool chemicals, cleaning solvents, and other controlled substances This competition will remain open until filled, with a first review date of September 29, 2026.
