MB Global Foods is a dynamic import/export company specializing in frozen fruits and vegetables marketed worldwide. We are looking for an Assistant Controller to join our team and support the accounting and finance functions.

Reporting to the Controller, the Assistant Controller will play an important role in the day-to-day accounting operations, month-end and year-end processes, financial reporting, and continuous improvement of the accounting function.

Main Responsibilities:

- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of the monthly general ledger close, including month-end journal entries, account reconciliations, and account analysis.
- Supervise Accounts Payable activities to ensure invoices are processed accurately and on time, vendor relationships are maintained, and payment obligations are met.
- Supervise Accounts Receivable activities, including customer collections, credit terms and limits, accurate application of customer payments, and timely invoicing.
- Reconcile and manage various GL accounts.
- Review month-end journal entries and adjustments.
- Assist with the preparation and review of monthly and year-end financial statements.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of financial information and reporting.
- Oversee inventory accounting and related reconciliations.
- Manage intercompany transactions and maintain accurate intercompany reconciliations.
- Prepare and coordinate monthly GST/HST/QST filings.
- Assist with the budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Work closely with Sales, Logistics, Documentation, and other internal departments to support accurate and efficient financial processes.
- Act as a liaison between the accounting department, senior management, and other internal departments.
- Prepare financial reports, analyses,



and other reporting as required by senior management.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
- Participate in and support the implementation of a new ERP system, including accounting-related processes and requirements.
- Participate in various accounting projects and special assignments as required.

Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a similar workplace.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger functions, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency with accounting software and the ability to adapt quickly to new systems; SAP experience is a strong asset.
- Proactive and solution-oriented, with the ability to identify opportunities for process improvement.
- CPA designation, progress toward CPA, ERP implementation experience, and bilingual French/English are considered assets.
