IT Automation Architect - Center of Excellence

Rate : $87-120/hr

Contract : 6 months + extension/conversion

Remote : Canada or US - EST preferred

Required Skills & Experience

- 8+ years of experience within IT infrastructure, cloud, enterprise architecture, automation and/other related technology disciplines.
- Prior experience with the following environment/tools: Terraform, ansible, github, ServiceNow, and cloud platforms (Azure preferably)
- Experience establishing or contributing to automation governance frameworks, standards, operating models, and Centres of Excellence (CoE).
- Proven ability to identify, prioritise, and drive automation initiatives that deliver measurable improvements in efficiency, service quality, reliability, and operational maturity.
- Experience evaluating automation platforms, integration technologies, orchestration tools, and infrastructure-as-code capabilities, and defining enterprise adoption standards.
- Strong understanding of up-to-date automation concepts, including workflow orchestration, APIs, infrastructure as code, event-driven automation, platform automation, AI-assisted automation, and observability.
- Experience leading architecture reviews, design workshops, technical governance forums, and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Proven ability to influence technical teams and stakeholders without direct authority and drive adoption of enterprise standards and architectural principles.
- Experience operating within large, complex, multi-disciplinary IT environments with multiple technology teams and service owners.
- Knowledge of automation platforms, scripting technologies, cloud-native automation capabilities, orchestration frameworks, CI/CD concepts, and infrastructure-as-code approaches.




- Familiarity with utilizing AI as an efficiency tool

Insight Global is seeking a IT Automation Architect to join a major, global engineering consulting firm.

The successful candidate will be instrumental in kicking off an exciting journey to transform the way their global IT organisation delivers services, operates platforms, and supports our people. To accelerate this vision, they are establishing a new Automation Centre of Excellence (CoE) enabling the organization to deliver technology services faster, more consistently, and at greater scale through the strategic use of automation.

We are seeking a visionary yet deeply technical IT Automation Architect to help define, build, and scale this new capability. The IT Automation Architect will play a pivotal role in defining the IT automation ecosystem by architecting automation frameworks, patterns, and guardrails, while driving adoption across IT teams. This role blends deep technical engineering expertise with strategic architectural thinking.

Main responsibilites

- Establishing guard rails, standards and governance for IT automation across the global IT enterprise
- Providing Technical leadership and assurance through automation architecture design

Stakeholder engagement and enablement to determine current state Communicating across technology teams and executives, with the ability to effectively commmunicate with different audiences The end goal of this position is to architect the future state of the IT automation COE.

This role can sit fully-remote US or Canada wide.
