We are seeking a part time Barista to join our front-of-house team. This role will work onsite at our location at 692 St. Anne’s Road. The position requires part-time availability to work on 1) EVERY SUNDAY, 2) occasional Saturdays, and 3) occasional weekly shifts (starting at 6:30am) if needed. Weekly hours are expected to be between 12-24 hours per week.

Key responsibilities include preparing and serving hot and cold beverages, such as our premium, custom-blended espresso and other espresso-based beverages like lattes, cappuccinos, americanos, and much more. The role will also provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients; in addition to serving and accurately processing payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system. The role will work closely with a team of baristas and a back-of-house team of cooks and bakers.

Responsibilities

- Warmly greet and welcome customers, take orders,



and accurately process payments using a point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Provide menu recommendations and answer customer questions about menu items and ingredients, in addition to serving orders.
- Prepare and serve a variety of espresso based hot and cold beverages according to recipes and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain coffee and espresso equipment, including espresso machines, grinders, and blenders.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and customer seating area by regularly cleaning countertops, equipment, and floors; and help with dishwashing and other cleaning as needed.
- Set up and stock the workstation with necessary ingredients, tools, and supplies before and during shifts.
- Exemplify The Forge’s philosophy of excellent customer service, humility, work ethic, and a friendly attitude at all times.

Qualifications

- High-School Graduate
- Availability to work on 1) EVERY SUNDAY, 2) occasional Saturdays, and 3) occasional weekly shifts (starting at 6:30am) if needed.
- Basic understanding of different coffee and espresso blends, brewing methods, drink preparation, and latte art; with the ability to learn and master espresso-based beverage skills (training provided).
- Previous barista experience is an asset.




- Possess a mature, friendly, polite, and engaging personality with a commitment to customer care and satisfaction.
- Multitasking and organizational skills to manage multiple orders simultaneously during peak hours.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and lift up to 35 lbs.
- A positive attitude, the ability to take direction and follow instructions, and work consistently and efficiently as part of a team.

Compensation

- · Starting hourly wage is $18.00 per hour. The Forge has a no tipping policy.
