Senior Full-Cycle Bookkeeper

Parkland Courier Services Ltd. is a family-owned transportation and logistics company. We are looking for an experienced Senior Full-Cycle Bookkeeper to independently manage our day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping functions.

This is a one-person accounting department reporting directly to ownership. The successful candidate must be highly organized, dependable, detail-oriented and confident taking full ownership of the company's books.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping and day-to-day accounting functions
- Manage all Accounts Receivable (AR) functions, including:
- Customer invoicing and billing
- Payment application
- Account reconciliation
- Aging reports and collection of outstanding accounts
- Investigating and resolving billing discrepancies
- Manage all Accounts Payable (AP) functions, including:
- Vendor invoice processing
- Vendor payments
- Statement reconciliation
- Investigating and resolving discrepancies
- Coordinate and administer payroll through ADP
- Compile and verify employee hours and payroll information
- Submit accurate hours, changes and payroll details to ADP
- Review payroll reports for accuracy
- Communicate employee changes, deductions, vacation information and other payroll adjustments
- Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies with ADP
- Maintain accurate internal payroll records
- Complete bank and credit card reconciliations
- Maintain the General Ledger (GL)
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Complete month-end reconciliations and closing procedures
- Prepare GST and other required government remittances
- Assist with year-end preparation and work directly with external accountants
- Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation
- Provide financial information and reporting directly to ownership
- Proactively identify and resolve accounting discrepancies




- Maintain strict confidentiality of company, employee and financial information

Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of full-cycle bookkeeping/accounting experience – required
- Strong hands-on experience with AR and AP – required
- Strong experience with payroll administration and reporting – required
- Experience working with ADP is an asset
- Demonstrated ability to independently manage the bookkeeping/accounting function of a business
- Robust understanding of bookkeeping principles, reconciliations and GL accounts
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and priorities independently
- Strong Excel and general computer skills
- Experience in the transportation, trucking or logistics industry is an asset
- TruckMate experience is a definite asset

The Right Person This is not a position where you will be one member of a large accounting department. You will be the accounting department.

We need someone who is comfortable taking ownership of the company's books and being the person ownership relies on for accurate information regarding AR, AP, payroll administration and the overall state of the company's financial records.

The right candidate is experienced, organized and proactive. When something doesn't reconcile, you investigate it. When an account is overdue, you follow up. When information is missing, you find it. You are comfortable working independently while communicating directly with ownership.

Pay: $60,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
