Position: Boxing Trainer (Adults & Youth Programs)
Employment: Independent contractor, paid per class. Invoices must be submitted to the gym for classes taught.
Compensation: Paid per class, starting at $30 per class, based on experience and level of professional certification. The number of classes assigned may vary depending on the season, instructor availability, and class participation levels.
Technical Requirements: Boxing Level 1 certification (minimum requirement) transferable qualified experience in the fitness sector Vulnerable Sector Check

Reports to: Gym Supervisor
OVERVIEW: Under the supervision of the Gym Supervisor the Trainer will provide boxing instruction for 13 Round members, corporate clients, youth and other special interest groups. The Trainer is responsible for providing a high-quality fitness experience by leading dynamic and varied group fitness classes, supervising open gym time when applicable, leading corporate team building events, developing a network of personal training clients and training competitive fighters, if desired. The Trainer will focus on positive motivation strategies that emphasize participants’ strengths and achievements, prioritize customer service and training quality while promoting inclusion, a core value of the 13 Round community.
ABOUT US: 13 Round Fight for Life is dedicated to empowering children and youth to rise above adversity through boxing training and life skills development. By offering free programs that combine structured boxing training with intentional life skill activities that build resilience, confidence and healthy habits, we create a supportive space where young people can grow, belong and thrive. In addition to offering free youth programs, 13th Round also functions as a regular gym, with a standard schedule of classes for members, open gym, a competition boxing program and personal training with experienced and certified coaches.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet gym members and identify any members who may be attending for the first time.
- Check-in guests using Glofox and inform the Gym Supervisor if there are any issues with the member’s Glofox profile.
- Lead dynamic group and individual boxing sessions for both youth and adults.
- Develop age-appropriate training plans focusing on skill development, conditioning, and safety.
- Teach proper stance, footwork, defensive strategies, and punch combinations.
- Foster a positive, supportive atmosphere that encourages discipline, respect, and perseverance.
- Monitor and evaluate each participant’s progress, adjusting programs as needed.
- Ensure all training follows safe practices and proper supervision, especially for youth sessions.
- Collaborate and train with other coaches and staff to maintain consistent program quality.
- Represent the gym professionally and help promote programs within the community.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Boxing Ontario Level 1 certification.
- Valid Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Proven experience as a boxing coach or trainer, with references required.
- Patience and a supportive approach when working with youth and adults.
- Excellent communication and motivational skills, with the ability to connect with participants of all ages and skill levels.
- Availability to pick up shifts when schedules are posted, with some consistent availability and flexibility to accommodate schedule changes.
Pay: $28.00-$40.00 per hour
Expected hours: 3.5 – 7.0 per week
