We are seeking a friendly and organized Cashier/Grocery Clerk to join our retail team. The ideal candidate will provide excellent customer service, assist with merchandising, and ensure the smooth operation of the grocery store. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Bilingual or multilingual skills are a plus to better serve our diverse customer base. The Cashier/Grocery Clerk will play a vital role in creating a positive shopping experience for all customers.
Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly and assist them with their shopping needs
- Operate POS systems for checkout, handle cash and card transactions accurately
- Restock shelves and organize products according to merchandising standards
- Assist with the cleaning and restocking of the produce department as needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the grocery area
- Provide product information and answer customer inquiries effectively
- Assist with inventory management and stock replenishment
- Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards
- Support team members in achieving sales goals through excellent customer service and suggestive selling
Experience
- Previous retail sales or cashiering experience is preferred but not required
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling, and basic math skills is advantageous
- Strong communication skills, including phone etiquette and organizational abilities
- Multilingual or bilingual capabilities (English required) are highly desirable to serve diverse customers effectively
- Experience in merchandising, upselling, or technical sales such as product demos is a plus
- Ability to manage time efficiently and prioritize tasks in a busy workplace
