Join Our Food Services Team!

We are looking for a reliable, hardworking, and enthusiastic Casual On-Call Cook to join our Food Services team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced kitchen environment and is looking for flexible, casual work. The successful candidate will provide coverage for scheduled shifts, staff absences, special events, and other operational needs as required.

Key Responsibilities

Food Preparation

- Prepare basic components of menu items using established recipes and preparation procedures, including chopping vegetables, preparing sauces, and butchering or portioning meat.
- Follow established recipes, portion sizes, and food preparation procedures to ensure consistency and quality.
- Assist with meal preparation and other kitchen duties as required.

Safety and Cleanliness

- Ensure the kitchen, food preparation areas, and food storage areas are maintained to established cleaning and sanitation standards.
- Clean and maintain assigned workstations and ensure leftover food is properly stored, labeled, dated, and handled according to food safety procedures.




- Comply with all applicable nutrition, sanitation, food safety, and workplace health and safety regulations and standards.
- Promptly report kitchen accidents, hazards, equipment concerns, or food safety concerns to the appropriate supervisor.

Teamwork, Collaboration and Client Service

- Work collaboratively with the kitchen team to complete preparation and support daily food service operations.
- Monitor inventory levels and communicate low-stock items or supply needs to the appropriate supervisor.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and professional approach when interacting with coworkers, students, faculty, staff, and guests.
- Complete assigned tasks efficiently and reliably during scheduled shifts.
- Be receptive to feedback, coaching, and training, and demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the kitchen.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

- Previous kitchen, food preparation, or food service experience is an asset.
- Previous experience in an institutional, school, catering, or high-volume kitchen environment is an asset.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism, reliability, and personal accountability.
- Comfortable working as part of a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Robust verbal communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently while also contributing effectively as a team member.
- Ability to interact respectfully and professionally with colleagues, students of all ages, and people from diverse cultural backgrounds.




- Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing needs.
- Strong customer service skills and a positive, proactive, can-do attitude.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Comfortable with bending, climbing, reaching, stooping, standing, walking, and moving quickly throughout the kitchen and dining areas.
- Willingness to assist with other duties and responsibilities as required.
- Availability to accept casual, on-call shifts based on operational needs is required.
