Location:

- Boardwalk Retirement Community (NW Calgary)

Responsibilities:

- Provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for our Residents

- Present the menu, take written orders and communicate special requests to the culinary team

- Serve meals and beverages to Residents in a courteous and qualified manner to their satisfaction and comfort

- Set and clear dining tables and deliver tray service as required

- Assist with cleaning of dishware and cutlery as required

- Assist with catering, and actively participate in special occasions and theme events

- Assist in the orientation and training of new culinary employees

- Assist the culinary team in preparing, portioning, and serving simple items (i.e., beverages, soups, salads, desserts)

- Maintain cleanliness of kitchen and dining areas including deep cleaning when required

- Assist with housekeeping including light dusting, vacuuming, mopping, changing linens and making beds as needed

- Follow and comply with health and safety legislation and departmental procedures

- Comply with all provincial regulations and established department policies and procedures

- Be aware of the Resident Rights & Responsibilities and endeavor to respect and promote it





- Attend in-service training as required in to better serve the needs of the Residents

- Attend staff meetings as required to be aware of changes in the workplace

- Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy relating particularly to ethics, and integrity as set out in the Company’s Code of Conduct and Handbook

- Complete all other tasks as assigned

Experience and Educational Requirements:

- 2 years of serving experience

- Preference will be given to individuals who have previous experience in the food service industry and working with seniors

- High School Diploma

- Certification of mandatory training in public health and sanitation (Food Handling Permit)

Technical Requirements:

- Operating in an efficient manner while maintaining safety practices

- Working knowledge of English both verbal and written

Non-Technical Requirements:

- Must be physically able to lift and transfer heavy, hot items and stand/walk for majority of shift

- Must be comfortable using PPE around commercial grade chemicals and sanitization products

- Availability to work various shifts (evenings, weekends, and holidays)
