Help Shape the Future of Food Categories

Freybe Gourmet Foods is looking for a data-driven, commercially minded Category Manager to join our team on an 18-month contract. In this role, you'll turn market trends, consumer insights, retailer data, and sales analytics into strategies that drive growth. You'll work closely with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and key retail customers to identify opportunities, strengthen category performance, and influence business decisions across our portfolio.

What You'll Be Doing

Drive Category Growth

- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitive activity.
- Identify opportunities for growth, innovation, pricing, and assortment improvements.
- Develop category strategies that support business objectives.

Support Retail Partners

- Deliver category reviews, insights, and recommendations to retail customers.
- Support sales presentations with data-driven storytelling.
- Recommend assortment, promotion, and merchandising opportunities.

Turn Data Into Action

- Manage and analyze syndicated, retailer, and internal sales data.
- Create dashboards, reports, and performance reviews.
- Translate complex information into explicit recommendations for leadership and cross-functional teams.

Lead Competitive & Market Analysis

- Monitor competitor activity, innovation, pricing, promotions, and market trends.
- Deliver quarterly category reviews highlighting what is changing in the market and what actions Freybe should consider.

Partner Across the Business

- Collaborate with Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, and Innovation teams.
- Support new product launches and business planning with data-backed insights and forecasts.

What We're Looking For

Experience





- 5+ years of experience in Category Management, Retail Analytics, or Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG).
- Experience working with retailers and category review processes.
- Food industry experience is an asset.

Skills

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent presentation and communication skills.
- Ability to transform data into actionable business insights.
- Comfortable working cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Technical Skills

- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with Nielsen, Circana (IRI), or similar syndicated data platforms.
- Power BI or Tableau experience is an asset.

Education

- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Economics, or a related field.
- MBA or advanced analytics training is considered an asset.

Additional Requirements

- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Ability to travel as required.
- Eligible to work full-time in Canada.
- Minimum of 4 days per week in office.
