Position Description Reporting to the NBDS Program Manager, the Child and Youth Development Services Support Worker shall create links between appropriate health and social resources for children and families in the 13 affiliated First Nation communities. The Child and Youth Development Services Support Worker shall assist clients to engage proactively with the community, family and children and assist individuals in maintaining resilient-focused wellness by offering a variety of services and support.

Child and Youth Development Services Support Worker - Niiganning Bimaadiziwin Development Services Department Development Services for Children and Youth Salary Starting at 55,000 Term Full time, Permanent Hours 5 days a week, 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Location 240 Veteran's Dr Reports to NBDS Program Manager Duties and Responsibilities - Develop an Initial Intake Assessment and create an individualized Care Plan and referrals - Provide counselling, information, education and guidance to clients with regard to rehabilitation services - Advocate and monitor clients’ needs and take appropriate action - Participate in inter-disciplinary case conferences - Keep accurate,



timely client contact records in accordance with program requirements - Facilitate linkages to needed services within the broader service community - Develop networks and partnerships with community resources - Advocate for client and coordinate case management meetings with relevant partners - Facilitate access to Anishinaabe knowledge, traditions and cultural beliefs in the healing process (if appropriate) - Maintain statistics required by the Ministry and the Program with regard to qualitative and quantitative aspects of the Program - Additional duties as required Qualifications - University degree or college diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution (social work, early childhood education, social services) - Ability to work independently and in a team setting - Excellent skills in the following areas: computer, organization, networking, interpersonal, presentation and communication (written & oral) - Experience working with children and families - Knowledge of the Anishinaabe culture and language and experience in working in First Nation communities Additional Requirements - Valid driver’s license and vehicle - Must be willing to travel when required - Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Search ** Traditional practices involve burning sacred medicines including tobacco, sweetgrass, sage and cedar within the work setting
