The Fraser Orthopaedic Research Society is seeking a full-time Clinical Research Assistant that is hardworking, reliable, and organized to join their close-knit team of researchers. This is a one year contract position with the possibility of extension if work volume allows. This position would include direct interaction with orthopaedic trauma patients and the ideal candidate will be splitting their time between Royal Columbian Hospital and the Fraser Orthopaedic Institute- both located within one block of each other in Current Westminster.

This requires the right applicant to possess high levels of confidence, compassion, and the ability to prioritize. It would also include a close working relationship with the Orthopaedic Surgeons at RCH to help evolve the world of Orthopaedics through various research projects.

Duties:

We are looking for an individual who can perform the following daily tasks with confidence and attention to detail:

- Identify eligible research study participants and maintain accurate screening logs.
- Consenting and discussing research projects with eligible patients
- Administering questionnaires with participants
- Managing and completing up-to-date Case Report Forms (CRFs)
- Answering any and all study-related questions
- Liaison with surgeons to discuss study and participant needs
- Navigating the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) for relevant information
- Organize confidential data collection and entry into an electronic data capturing system
- Maintain accurate study records using Good Clinical Practices
- Scheduling, confirming, and guiding participants through clinical appointments
- Calling participants to complete necessary study follow-up procedures or to book appointments




- Communicate effectively with the lead site to resolve queries and discrepancies in data
- Successfully manage and prioritize time between the hospital and the clinic to conduct participant interactions
- Complete other necessary administrative tasks that pertain to the Research Office

Skills and Qualifications:
- Completion of a Bachelors degree or Medical Office Assistant Certificate from a recognized institution or other clinical experience is preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Completion of TCPS 2 CORE is preferred but can be completed upon hire.
- CITI Program courses such as Good Clinical Practice and Health Canada Division 5 are also preferred but can also be completed upon hire.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Office, and Adobe.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to a constantly changing environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. Other languages are considered an asset but not necessary.
- Capable of working independently-without direction but with solid communication skills to update others on necessary information and general progress.
- Comfortable in a hospital environment working with vulnerable populations.
