Position Summary

CFSPD is currently seeking a Clinical Therapist - Family and Intimate Partner Violence Programs to provide individual, couple, family and group therapy, supportive counselling, assessment, case planning and referrals to clients accessing CFSPD services.

As part of the Counselling and Therapy program, the Clinical Therapist will provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive services to clients from diverse backgrounds, including immigrant and newcomer men, with a focus on healthy relationships, stress management, healthy coping and family well-being.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with internal teams and community partners to support effective service delivery and positive client outcomes. The position reports to the Program Supervisor and is based in Brampton, Ontario.

Responsibilities

Clinical Services

- Provide trauma-informed and culturally responsive clinical services to clients from diverse cultural and racial backgrounds.
- Conduct intake and clinical assessments to identify client needs and determine appropriate interventions and service plans.
- Develop, implement and review individualized treatment and service plans based on client needs and identified goals.
- Provide individual, couple, family and group therapy, supportive counselling, brief interventions, crisis intervention and case management services as required.
- Provide therapeutic and supportive counselling to immigrant and newcomer men participating in the Choice to Change program.
- Support the delivery of Choice to Change services in accordance with program objectives and established clinical practices.
- Collaborate with the Program Lead at Catholic Cross-cultural Services and relevant CFSPD staff to support coordinated and culturally responsive services.
- Facilitate trauma-informed group programming focused on healthy relationships, stress and self-care, healthy coping and family safety.
- Monitor and evaluate client progress, obtain client feedback and adjust interventions as appropriate.
- Complete risk assessments, risk management and safety planning with clients as required.
- Identify client needs and make appropriate referrals to community resources, agencies and professionals.
- Liaise with collateral contacts and community service providers, where appropriate and with the necessary consent, to support continuity of care and advocate on behalf of clients.




- Respond appropriately to client concerns in accordance with agency policies and clinical practices.
- Maintain an appropriate clinical caseload and meet established direct service and program targets.

Documentation and Administration

- Maintain accurate, timely and confidential clinical records, including assessments, treatment plans and progress notes.
- Complete clinical and program documentation in accordance with agency policies, professional standards and funding requirements.
- Maintain accurate statistics and service data related to clinical and program activities.
- Participate in program evaluation activities and provide required client and service information in accordance with agency and funding requirements.
- Schedule and manage client appointments and maintain an up-to-date clinical schedule.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise tact and discretion when handling client information.

Community Collaboration and Professional Practice

- Represent CFSPD professionally within the community and collaborate with community partners to support client access to appropriate services.
- Participate in community initiatives, presentations, workshops, training and outreach activities as assigned.
- Maintain current knowledge of evidence-informed and best-practice approaches in trauma-informed care, counselling, family relationships, intimate partner and family violence, and culturally responsive practice.
- Participate in clinical consultation, supervision, team meetings and professional development activities.
- Contribute to the development and improvement of effective clinical services and program initiatives.

Other

- Attend required agency, program and team meetings and activities.
- Participate in agency initiatives and fundraising activities as appropriate.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

- Master’s degree in social work, Psychology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Registration in valuable standing with a professional college such as OCSWSSW, CRPO, or another relevant regulatory body.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical therapy experience, including individual and/or group counselling.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in trauma-informed practice and crisis intervention.




- Demonstrated experience working with diverse cultural and racial backgrounds; experience with immigrant and newcomer populations and/or men is an asset.
- Knowledge of anti-racism and anti-oppression principles and their application in clinical practice.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in domestic violence and intimate partner violence, including an understanding of the effects of violence on all family members.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in intervention models and modalities for individuals who use violence in their relationships.
- Solid assessment, treatment planning, counselling, group facilitation and case management skills.
- Strong risk assessment, risk management and safety planning skills.
- Fluency in multiple languages is an asset.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and electronic documentation systems.
- A satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Records Check.
- Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle and appropriate insurance.
- Willingness and ability to work within a Catholic values framework.

Working Conditions

- The successful candidate will meet with clients in the office and as required, in community settings.
- Travel will be required to satellite offices, partner sites, meetings, conferences, seminars and community visits.
- Evening work and occasional weekends are required.

The expected salary range for this position is $60,000 - $62,000 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week and the applicable salary grid. This is a 1-year full-time contract position.
