Position Summary The Curling Club Manager supports the day-to-day operations of the Club and helps ensure a positive experience for members, guests, and event participants. This role involves administrative coordination, event planning and support, facility management, and promotional activities that contribute to the successful operation and growth of the Club.

Key Responsibilities

1. Administrative Duties

- Coordinate leagues, rentals, school groups, bonspiels, social events, and other club functions. This includes scheduling of staff and volunteers.
- Manage correspondence, and inquiries from the public and Club membership. A high degree of communication is required using a variety of platforms.
- Maintain Club website, Club calendar, and update Club notice boards.
- Maintain a working knowledge of the Club’s by-laws.
- Identify potential grant and funding opportunities.
- Apply for grant programs and maintain accurate records of applications and reporting requirements.

2. Bar and Concession Assistance

- Liaise with the Lead Bartender regarding bar operations.
- Ensure the club’s liquor license remains current.
- Ensure compliance with applicable liquor regulations.
- Obtain special occasion permits when required for events.
- Assist with ordering and accepting deliveries and occasionally purchasing supplies.

3. Building Management

- Maintain records of facility key assignments and alarm code access.
- Assist in ensuring the premises are clean, organized, and ready for daily operations.
- Coordinate, negotiate, and oversee contract services required to maintain facility operations.

4. Services Management





- Book and prepare for all ice and lounge activities.
- Coordinate ice time for all curling programs and events to maximize facility use.
- Assist with assigning lockers and maintain a master list of locker allocations.
- Attend Board of Directors and membership meetings as required.
- Assist with purchasing supplies required for the day-to-day operation of the club and the comfort of members.

5. Club Promotion and Marketing

- Assist with promoting the use of the club throughout the year.
- Create advertisements, newsletters, and social media content.
- Maintain a comprehensive listing of media outlets and keep them informed of club events.
- Coordination of promotional campaigns and manage public relations.
- Maintain communication with members and prospective new curlers.
- Promote curling as a sport within the Yellowknife community with the objective of increasing membership.

6. Fundraising Duties

- Apply for and obtain lottery licenses. Submit reports as required.
- Coordinate raffles and fundraising activities.
- Provide supplies and other logistical support for fundraising initiatives.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential

- Solid communication skills.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Advanced computer proficiency in MS Windows, MS Office, and social media platforms.

Assets

- Technical knowledge of the sport of curling.
- Experience in managing staff.
- Experience managing or operating a recreational facility.
- Experience with website maintenance.

Pay: $30.00 per hour
