The Opportunity This position is based at our Ottawa, Ontario office within the Point of Care division.

WhatYou’llDo

We're searching for a highly motivated science or engineering student, preferably with a background in chemical analysis or medical diagnostics, to join the R&D; Development team at Abbott Point of Care Canada.

The successful candidate will have the chance to assist with verification and validation activities, process improvements or investigation activities for innovative point of care diagnostic test cartridges as part of the i-STAT System.

Required Qualifications





- Full-time registration in an undergraduate BSc / BASc degree program in Chemistry, Biochemistry, or Chemical Engineering (3rd or 4th year student preferred)
- Hands-on laboratory experience, including designing, executing and documenting experiments and studies
- Fast learner with a willingness/ability to innovate and problem solve
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Minimum GPA of B+ or equivalent
- Solid verbal and written communication/documentation skills
- Experience with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
- Knowledge of math and statistics, good computer skills, knowledge of statistical software programs such as SAS JMP or Minitab is an asset
- Knowledge of electrochemical sensors and detection is an asset
- Four-month term

The hourly salary for this position ranges from $19.00 to $25.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
