About Sunnyside Community

Sunnyside Community is a new supportive housing community providing permanent housing and onsite support to adults who have experienced chronic homelessness. Our approach is grounded in Housing First, trauma-informed practice, harm reduction, dignity and resident choice.

About the Role The Community Support Specialist is a frontline position focused on building positive relationships with residents and helping create a safe, welcoming and supportive community.

You will work directly with residents to provide practical support, encouragement, connection to services and assistance with everyday needs while supporting housing stability and community wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

- Build respectful, trusting relationships with residents.
- Provide day-to-day support with practical needs, routines and housing stability.
- Conduct wellness checks and respond to resident concerns.
- Support residents in accessing community, health and social services.
- Encourage resident participation and community engagement.
- Respond to conflicts and challenging situations using trauma-informed approaches.




- Follow safety procedures and respond appropriately to emergencies.
- Complete shift notes, incident reports and required documentation.
- Maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
- Work closely with the Site Supervisor and Supportive Housing Manager.
- Help create a safe, inclusive and welcoming community.

Qualifications

- Experience working with vulnerable populations or individuals experiencing homelessness or housing instability.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to remain calm and respectful in challenging situations.
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, harm reduction or Housing First is an asset.
- Experience in social services, healthcare, shelter, supportive housing or community work is an asset.
- First Aid/CPR certification, or willingness to obtain.
- Successful completion of required background screening.
- Reliable transportation.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule: Sunnyside is a 24/7 supportive housing community. Availability for rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, is required.

Compensation: $25.00 per hour
