Location: Based in Vanderhoof, BC and serving Vanderhoof, Fort St James & Fraser Lake

Hours of Work: As needed, on call

Salary: $27.53 – $31.57/hour as per CSSEA & CSSBA Collective Agreement (JJEP Wage Grid Level 10)

Job Summary

Assists persons with developmental disabilities live independently their own homes and, in their community, to have the highest quality of life possible. This includes assisting them with their physical, economic, vocational, recreational, social, emotional, and daily life skills. Specific activities may include assistance with self-confidence, decision-making skills, personal planning, and self-determination.

Teaches and assists clients with activities such as grooming, basic cooking, money management, shopping, household safety, pet care.

Qualifications & Experience:

- Diploma in a related human/social service field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
- One (1) year recent related experience, specific to community social services sector
- Must be sensitive to and respectful of cultural differences, differences in socio-economic status and lifestyle diversity. Must be non-judgmental
- Knowledge of relevant socio-historical events relevant to Indigenous culture




- Intermediate Computer Skills (moderate understanding word processing, spreadsheets, databases)

Required:

- Valid class 5 driver’s license required and 4 driver’s license preferred
- Satisfactory drivers abstract
- Criminal Record Check clearance
- This position requires union membership
