DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Compounding Technician to join our dynamic manufacturing team. The Compounding Technician is responsible for accurately mixing raw materials according to master formulas and standard operating procedures; including measuring, weighing, combining raw materials, monitoring the mixing process, performing quality checks.

RESPONSIBLITIES

- Following quality procedures to ensure final products meet quality standards
- Adhere to detailed master formulas and mixing instructions to ensure consistent product quality
- Identifying and staging raw materials prior to beginning the batching process
- Preparing and mixing batches according to master formulas and SOPs
- Weighing and measuring ingredients accurately
- Cleaning and maintaining the compounding area
- Recommending changes to processes or procedures where needed
- Measure and combine raw materials which may include liquids, solids and powders
- Cleaning and maintaining mixing equipment, tanks, tools, scales and compounding facilities; following all safety precautions while doing so
- Completing regular training on standard operating procedures, safety protocols and quality standards
- Operating mixing equipment – blenders, mixing tanks and pumps
- Limiting waste and down-time
- Properly using personal protection equipment and safety equipment as required, must be able to complete respirator fit testing
- Ensure samples of completed product are promptly provided for lab testing
- Reporting any equipment failures or malfunctions to the Compounding Supervisor or Production Operations Manager




- Performing start-up and shut down procedures for all vessels
- Meet daily production targets
- Monitoring for and reporting any discrepancies and deviations to Compounding Supervisor, or Production Operations Manager
- Maintaining accurate records of compounding activities, including batch records, quality control data, sanitization and training records, ensuring timely completion and submission to the Quality Department
- Taking inventory of compounding ingredients and supplies; ensuring all ingredients required are in house prior to starting a batch
- Reporting any raw material shortages immediately to the Compounding Supervisor or Production Operations Manager
- Assist with investigating and resolving any issues related to compounding processes, equipment and product quality
- Report any spills, hazards, illnesses or injuries immediately
- Assist R&D; staff with new formulation scale-ups as required
- Ensure that the work environment is maintained in a clean, safe, and organized state, and that raw materials are stored securely in designated locations when not in use
- Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- Minimum post-secondary education is required in a related field.



Equivalent experience will also be considered.
- Background in personal care/cosmetics or in chemical compounding, an industrial kitchen or related experience an asset
- Strong understanding of WHMIS, Lockout/tagout
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Job experience and knowledge related to blending equipment, valves, piping, filling, cooling and heating pumps and processing equipment required. Possess strong mechanical aptitude.
- The qualified candidate requires excellent skills in communication, problem-solving, decision-making, prioritizing work, organizing and getting the necessary information from relevant sources.
- Understanding of the application of Standard Operating Procedures and Good Manufacturing Practices.
- Must be able to actively listen and receive coaching and applicable training.
- An independent, organized self-starter & team player who can assess needs and deliver results.
- Proficient in weights & measures.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to details and ability to manage information.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds & move around 55-gallon drums
- Numeracy
- Ability to operate pallet jack and drum lifter
- Experience with the cleaning and sanitization process of all manufacturing and/or compounding equipment.
- Must be able to convert weight measurements and use different kinds of scales.

Pay: $23.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 – 44.0 per week
