About the Role
COG Construction Ltd. is seeking a Construction Estimator & Project Coordinator to join our growing construction team.
This position is suited to someone with a foundation in construction estimating, costing or project coordination who is ready to take the next step in their career. Working closely with Construction Management, the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing project estimates and budgets while also supporting project costing, coordination and administration throughout the construction process.
We are looking for someone who can grow with our team, take increasing ownership of the estimating function, and help strengthen how we track and manage our construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Costing
- Prepare construction estimates and project budgets with input from Construction Management.
- Complete quantity takeoffs and material calculations.
- Obtain, organize and compare supplier and subcontractor pricing.
- Identify and follow up on information required to complete estimates.
- Maintain current material, labour, subcontractor and historical project cost information.
- Update estimates as project scope, drawings or pricing changes.
- Track estimated, committed and actual project costs.
- Monitor cost variances and project changes.
- Maintain purchase order, change order and other project cost information.
Project Coordination & Administration
- Provide day-to-day project and administrative support to Construction Management.
- Maintain organized project files, drawings, specifications and documentation.
- Coordinate and follow up with site staff, suppliers, subcontractors and other project partners.
- Assist with procurement, material orders, permits and other project requirements.
- Support project schedules, meetings, action items and project closeout.
- Prepare project correspondence, spreadsheets and reports as required.
Procore & Project Systems
- Use Procore as part of the day-to-day coordination and administration of construction projects.
- Maintain current project documentation, drawings, costs and other applicable information within Procore.
- Use Procore to support project costing, communication, documentation and reporting.
- Work with Construction Management, site staff and accounting to maintain accurate and consistent project information.
Qualifications & Skills
- Some previous experience in construction estimating, project costing, project coordination or a related construction role.
- Familiarity with construction estimating and quantity takeoffs.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- General understanding of construction materials, trades and construction processes.
- Comfortable working with budgets, costs, pricing and numerical information.
- Experience obtaining and comparing supplier and subcontractor pricing is considered an asset.
- Working experience with Procore is strongly preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and independently follow up on required information.
- Willingness to learn, take on increasing responsibility and develop within the role.
Role Development This position is intended to grow alongside COG Construction Ltd. and our construction operations.
The successful candidate will work closely with Construction Management to develop their knowledge of COG's projects, construction methods, pricing and processes, with the expectation of taking increasing ownership of the estimating function as their experience develops.
Construction Management will provide project scope, construction knowledge and guidance as required and will retain final approval of project pricing, contractual commitments and construction decisions.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary: $60,000–$75,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
