Position Overview

Crown Building Supplies is seeking a Construction Estimator to support the preparation and coordination of estimates for commercial, institutional, and residential construction projects. The successful candidate will review construction documents, perform quantity take-offs, prepare cost estimates and quotations, and coordinate with project managers, suppliers, subcontractors, and procurement personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Review architectural, structural, and engineering drawings, specifications, and tender documents to determine project scope and estimating requirements.
- Perform quantity take-offs and material calculations for doors, frames, hardware, millwork, and related construction components.
- Prepare detailed labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor cost estimates for tender submissions and negotiated projects.
- Solicit and evaluate quotations from suppliers and subcontractors and incorporate pricing into project estimates.
- Prepare formal quotations, bid proposals, and tender documentation in accordance with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Analyze project risks, design changes, and scope variations and provide pricing recommendations.




- Coordinate with project managers and procurement personnel to support purchasing, scheduling, and cost-control activities.
- Prepare and price change orders, revisions, and additional work requests.
- Maintain estimating records, supplier pricing, and historical cost information.
- Participate in project handover meetings and provide estimating support throughout the construction process.

Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architectural/Building Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant construction experience .
- Previous experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, or a related construction role.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
- Experience preparing cost estimates, quotations, and bid documentation.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard office software.
- Solid analytical, organizational, communication, and attention-to-detail skills.
- Experience with doors, frames, hardware, millwork, or Division 8 construction is an asset.
