Contracts Professional - Mica Creek - FTT

What you'll do

Reporting to the Senior Field Manager SIN at Mica dam, this role is responsible for managing several key contracts for the dam and the Mica Creek townsite. Contracts include Food/accommodation services, Snow Removal, Emergency Response

Team, Avalanche monitoring services, Janitorial services, Elevators and other facility management contracts.

Accountabilities include

- Physically reporting to work at Mica, every week.

- Responsible for performance/contract/relationship-management of key suppliers providing direct services to BC Hydro.

- Ensures BC Hydro’s safety requirements and expectations are met by suppliers.

- Works collaboratively with key stakeholders to gather feedback, and follows up to resolve implementation, service and

delivery problems, and ensure targets, efficiencies and desired improvements are achieved.
- Builds strong, collaborative relationships with service providers, internal clients, key site contacts, and colleagues across

the organization to effectively deliver on objectives and programs.
- Acts as BC Hydro/owner business lead for assigned contracts, managing supplier performance, service quality and overall

relationship, and accountable for contract administration, in alignment with BC Hydro’s contract management practice.

Contributes to tendering,



contract negotiations and ongoing administration of service and other contracts.

- Will be a partner on the Mica management team

What you bring

- Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline such as Business, Law, Finance, or Engineering or a trades certificate

(relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered).
- Minimum 4 years proven track record of both executing value-add contracts and delivering strategic benefits to achieve

specific business outcomes.
- Robust relationship building, organization, planning, analytical and problem-solving skills.

- Well-developed oral, written, presentation, interpersonal communications and staff management skills, knowledge, and

experience.
- Experience/knowledge in budgeting and fiscal controls, contract negotiation and supplier relationship management, and

project management.
- Experience in the management of food services, accommodation services, remote workcamps and/or facility management

is an asset.
- Experience in the management of contracted service providers or continuous improvement/quality management activities

This role is based at Mica dam, requiring traveling to Mica every week. There is no opportunity to work remotely.

- This posting is for a Full Time Temporary position for approximately 12-months.

M&P; workers follow the same requirements and benefits of the IBEW (MOU #8) & MoveUp (MOU # 37) collective agreements. Refer to either of those agreements for all details. Some of the highlights are listed below:

- Mica Creek townsite is a remote site ~140 km north of Revelstoke, which houses staff and contractors working 24/7 at the

nearby Mica Dam and generating station. Workers commute in and stay at the Mica Creek townsite for the 4 day work week.
- Accommodations and food are provided. New workers will be placed in a dorm room and will be eligible to bid by Mica

seniority to bigger/nicer rooms as the rooms become available
- Company transportation is provided from muster points in our catchment area, which is Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops,

Salmon Arm and Revelstoke. This transportation is with large SUVs or pick-up trucks. M&P; workers are provided a vehicle or charge KMs or can car pool with 1-3 other workers.
- The work week is a modified 4 day work week, Monday – Thursday. When a stat holiday falls on the Monday, the work

week shifts to Tuesday to Friday.
- The hours of work are: Day one: 10:00-17:30, days two & three: 07:00 – 17:30, day four 07:00-14:30.

- Workers will receive a 20% remote incentive paid bi-weekly on top of their regular pay. This incentive is not pensionable.

- Workers will earn an additional 34 hours to their time Bank hours annually that can be taken as time off to help offset

being away from home during the week.
- Mica Creek townsite has many recreational facilities and are free to use by employees. This includes a full gymnasium,

workout gyms, pool, sauna, yoga, fire pits, hot tub, golf course, golf simulator, archery, employee lounge, library, pool tables, ping pong, air hockey, bicycles, softball field, kayaks, canoe, hiking, snow shoeing and cross country skiing.
- Workers can bring family and stay in a Mica house (When available) up to 35 days per year at no cost to the employee.
