Ulkatcho Mercantile is looking for an experienced and dependable Cook to join our team in Anahim Lake. This position includes housing options.
Ulkatcho Mercantile is a community-focused grocery store and gas station owned by Ulkatcho First Nation. We serve local residents, travellers, and many members of the Ulkatcho community. We are a small team that values working together, helping one another, and providing friendly, reliable service to our customers.
About the Position The Cook will be responsible for preparing fresh, tasty meals and food items for customers while keeping the kitchen clean, organized, and running smoothly.
Responsibilities may include
- Preparing and cooking a variety of meals and ready-to-go food
- Planning and preparing daily food specials
- Maintaining a clean, secure, and organized kitchen
- Following food-safety and sanitation standards
- Monitoring food supplies and helping with ordering and inventory
- Reducing food waste and making good use of available ingredients
- Providing friendly service to customers
- Working closely with the Mercantile team and helping out where needed
What We’re Looking For We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous cooking or kitchen experience
- Enjoys preparing good food for people
- Is dependable, organized, and able to work independently
- Works well as part of a small team
- Has a positive and respectful approach to working with customers and community members
- Understands or is willing to learn proper food-safety practices
- Is comfortable working in a busy community store environment
Experience working in a First Nations community or Indigenous-owned organization is an asset. If you enjoy cooking, working with people, and being part of a small community-focused team, we would love to hear from you.
Pay: $24.00-$26.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40.0 per week
