Join Neptune Properties, a growing Winnipeg-based family-owned commercial real estate acquisition and holding company rooted in our vison of Relationships, Pride, and Growth.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Corporate Accountant to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Corporate Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial statements for the consolidated group. This hands-on role encompasses month-end reporting, reconciliations, budgeting, cash-flow projections, accounting oversight and financial analysis.
The ideal candidate is an ambitious early-career accountant who is looking to gain experience and support a growing organization while pursuing a CPA designation. The individual will work directly with company decision-makers, have exposure to multiple operating companies in different industries, and gain broad experience relevant to CPA development.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Full-cycle accounting:
- Maintain the integrity of financial transactions by overseeing the import of monthly property data from various property managers, entering routine transactions, and managing accounts payable
- Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations, including payroll, accruals, and bank transactions
- Complete the month-end close process, perform intercompany accounting, and generate the monthly cash flow statement
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and cash flow projections
- Support the annual year end by reconciling accounts, preparing year end working papers, and ensuring accurate and timely record keeping
- Prepare financial reporting including income statements, balance sheets, and key performance indicators
- Review statements for accuracy identifying errors or variances, and providing explanations and recommendations as required
- Provide support to operating companies affiliated with Neptune Properties, by assisting with their accounting needs as required
- In our small-office environment, provide occasional administrative or operational coverage when required
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Post-secondary education (Bachelor of Commerce or similar)
- 1+ years of cumulative experience in a professional environment
- Prior work experience in a role performing accounting tasks including financial reporting or transaction entry
- Prior work experience requiring strong communication or customer service skills
- Enrollment or an intention to enroll in the CPA Program
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Self-motivated, reliable, and dependable.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with accounting software, preferably QuickBooks
- Familiarity with Canadian Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE)
- Prior exposure to commercial real estate or property accounting.

Schedule:
- Full time, eight-hour daytime shift
- Monday to Friday
- No regularly scheduled weekend work
Ability to commute/relocate:
- In-person position located in downtown Winnipeg. Applicants must be able to commute reliably

Pay: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
