DataOps Manager (Senior Contract)

Location: Calgary, AB (100% in office)

Term: 6-month contract with strong possibility of extension

Reports to: Chief Technology Officer

About the Opportunity

We're partnering with a well-established Calgary-based organization to find a senior DataOps Manager for an initial 6-month engagement, with a strong possibility of extension. Our partner is a privately held, vertically integrated operator and asset manager with a portfolio worth billions of dollars across Canada and the United States, spanning multifamily residential, commercial, self-storage, agricultural, and alternative real estate.

Their Data & Analytics team builds and runs the enterprise data platform behind reporting, analytics, AI, and data-driven decision-making across the business. In this role, you'll lead the BI Developers and Data Engineers who operate and evolve that platform, working closely with Product Management to deliver the roadmap and set the governance and operational standards the organization relies on.

What You'll Do

- Help execute the enterprise data strategy by aligning platform investments, governance, and delivery priorities with business objectives and data maturity goals.
- Partner with the Product Manager to deliver the roadmap, leading the team's Scrumban delivery framework with a focus on prioritization, capacity planning, and continuous delivery of business value.
- Own the reliability, security, scalability, and operational health of the data platform, meeting performance, availability, and cost optimization targets.
- Lead data governance and quality practices, including metadata management, lineage, stewardship, compliance, quality controls, and performance monitoring.
- Direct the design, development, and operation of data pipelines, integrations, and engineering practices for efficient, secure data movement.
- Establish and govern development, testing, deployment,



and release management practices for stable delivery of data products.
- Deliver governed, accessible, and reusable data products that support reporting, analytics, and decision-making.
- Drive automation, standardization, and operational excellence to reduce manual effort and maximize value from data investments.
- Lead and develop a high-performing team built on accountability, collaboration, technical excellence, and continuous learning.
- Work with business leaders, product owners, and technology teams to turn business priorities into scalable data solutions with measurable outcomes.

What You Bring

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in DataOps, data engineering, analytics, or data platform management, including leading technical teams.
- Proven experience leading BI Developers, Data Engineers, or other data professionals in a product or service delivery environment.
- Strong grasp of data architecture, data modeling, data warehousing, and enterprise data management principles.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Services, data integration technologies, CI/CD, and modern data platform operations.
- Track record implementing data governance, data quality, metadata management, lineage, and stewardship practices.
- Experience running Agile delivery (Scrum, Kanban, or Scrumban), including backlog management, sprint planning, prioritization, and continuous improvement.
- Solid understanding of platform reliability, performance optimization, security, monitoring, and operational support.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills, with the ability to bridge technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and planning skills, with the ability to juggle multiple initiatives and competing demands.
