NATURE OF THE WORK & RESPONSIBILITIES
NATURE OF THE WORK:
Reporting to the Academic Dean, the Dean of Academic Systems is responsible for the College’s systems for planning and organizing the teaching and learning environments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- The Dean of Academic Systems oversees the regular faculty staffing allocation and distribution based on enrolment projections by program and course. In collaboration with fellow Deans and the Human Resources team, the Dean of Academic Systems is responsible for managing this annual allocation throughout the year with respect to:
- variations in enrolment and curriculum;
- availability of human resources;
- support for the College’s strategic priorities.
- The Dean of Academic Systems also oversees the activities and services of the Registrar’s Office that support the academic journeys of students and potential students in both the regular and continuing education divisions: information services, recruitment, admissions, scheduling, registration, academic advising, standing and advancement, records (including transmission of student data to the Ministry) and graduation.
QUALIFICATIONS & CONDITIONS QUALIFICATIONS An undergraduate degree in an appropriate specialization, such as business administration or information systems, and a minimum of six (6) years relevant experience, preferably including three years in a management position in post-secondary academic administration.
CONDITIONS The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to engage in complex systems thinking and to act effectively in situations of ambiguity and uncertainty.

- Ability to exercise good judgment with excellent analytical skills, critical thinking decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Dynamic academic leadership with demonstrated success in inspiring others, managing performance and building cohesive teams.
- Effective team collaboration; ability to work collegially with open-mindedness, flexibility and adaptability.
- Capacity for innovative thinking and planning within a changing educational milieu.
- Knowledge and experience with student information systems and related databases.
- Demonstrated ability in managing a significant budget and working with complex financial systems.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Advanced communication skills in English (written and verbal).
- Intermediate communication skills in French (written and verbal).
- A graduate-level degree is an asset.
