Bandology is a proud Canadian non-profit dedicated to supporting more music for more kids via education, collaboration and community. We are currently seeking applications for current Board members to work collaboratively with Bandology’s Board of Directors to further the goal of helping kids succeed in school and in life thanks to the power of music.

Please be advised that if applying to join the board, you must be located in Oakville, Halton, Kitchener-Waterloo, Guelph or the surrounding area, in order to be able to attend meetings and participate in Bandology programming. This is an unpaid, volunteer board position, with no possibility of a paid role.

Board Responsibilities The time commitment is approximately 40 hours per year with five scheduled meetings taking place about every other month, as well as other responsibilities that may arise related to executive roles or opportunities in the community.

- Provide governance, strategic direction and oversight to the organization based on their specific skill sets and abilities
- Serve as advocates for Bandology and promote its mission, programs and services within their networks and communities
- Attend networking events and share organizational information via social media and other sources
- Support fundraising goals and contribute via personal networks and through community advocacy.
- Attend bimonthly board meetings (weekday evenings), committee meetings and other occasional meetings that may arise
- Read and review agendas,



minutes, policies and various other materials as needed
- Participate in charitable bingo throughout the year (held monthly for two hours on a Saturday afternoon)
- Contribute expertise to further Bandology’s goals
- Attend Bandology events and programs including recognition events, camps and workshops when able
- Liaise with the Executive Director, board members, staff and community members as needed

Executive positions are available, including chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary.

About You

- Experience in non-profits, arts/music organizations or community organizations is nice to have
- An interest in community service
- A passion for music and a belief in the long-term value of music education would be useful (musical expertise is not required)
- A police check and adherence to our vaccination policy will be required for the successful candidate

Bandology is especially looking for board members with the following experiences:

- Education
