Qualifications

MINIMAL FORMAL EDUCATION REQUIRED:

- Bachelor degree from a reputable Canadian university (or equivalent) is required.

EXPERIENCE:

- A minimum of five years’ experience in administration or other relevant area of expertise is required.
- Background and experience in health or a University environment is required.
- Experience with strategic planning.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Legal background or Public Administration background is a valuable asset.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

- Office management skills, including efficient time-management, strong organizational skills and skills allowing for effective prioritizing of work are required.
- Strong skills with computers and commonly-used software are required.
- Strong project management skills are required.
- Leadership abilities, including the ability to lead teams and projects and the ability to effectively co-supervise staff are required.
- Ability to work independently, with little direction or supervision is required.
- Ability to work effectively in teams or committees , including the ability to lead such committees, is required.
- Ability to work with a broad spectrum of University employees,



from senior administrators to those in entry-level positions is required.
- A satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.

OTHER JOB RELATED QUALIFICATIONS:

- Familiarity with issues relating to health education preferred.
- Experience or interest in working with a university or other educational institutions preferred.
- Familiarity with the University of Manitoba preferred.

Key responsibilities

POLICY, STRATEGIC PLANNING & GOVERNANCE: The Director, Planning & Priorities reports to the Executive Director, Rady FHS respecting matters as assigned by the Executive Director including:

Policy

- Along with stakeholders, take the lead in policy development and documentation.
- Development and maintenance of policy repository and development of Faculty policy framework.
- Assist the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences Legal Counsel with drafting and reviewing agreements.
- Supervision of Policy Analyst (AA2) role.

Governance

- Development and maintenance of committee terms of reference.
- Development and maintenance of orientation/governance manuals.
- Provide staff support for the development and implementation of governance activities.
- Participate and coordinate development of College or School proposals that impact governance structure.
- Supervision of the Governance Resource Secretary (Senior Confidential Admin EMAPS 5).

Strategic Planning

- Assist with strategic planning and implementation and monitoring of key performance indicators.




- Work with the communication team to ensure regular updating of Rady Faculty of Health Sciences’ strategic framework and process

SPECIAL PROJECTS: The Director, Planning & Priorities will provide support for other special projects of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences, as needed, including the following areas:

- Assisting the RFHS Awards Committee by writing, coordinating and submitting RFHS Awards Committee nominations (not covered by the VPRIO).
- Assisting the preparation of an agency agreements with partner agencies, as may be required.
- Other projects as directed by the Executive Director, Rady Faculty of Health Sciences.
- May be required to perform related duties not exceeding skills and capabilities as required.
